I have a question I don't quit weigh enough for the surgery but have some of the other issues that may qualify me for the surgery. The question is, is how many times do they weigh you? And when first consultation, right before the surgery etc... if they make you diet before hand what if you lose weigh? Do they weigh you again?

Honestly, it depends on the doc. I was weighed at my first appointment and every one after that. But the official weight they used for insurance was the first weight.

I had to diet and lose weight before. The doctor assured us that insurance companies won't deny you if your BMI drops below the threshold, they actually like to see some weight loss, shows you're serious.

I didn't weigh enough (BMI was 34) on my first visit, but had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and pre-diabetic. The surgeon told me to hit every buffet in town and come back in 2 weeks. I needed to gain 10-12 pounds to get to 35 BMI.....so I put some "Strap weights " in my bra and went back in.....He weighed me again and I qualified. Be creative

I didn't weigh enough the first time I looked into surgery because I didn't have any qualifying comorbidities. It was very discouraging. After two more yo-yo diets over a year I unfortunately met the weight criteria. Although I don't advocate trying to gain 40 lbs to hit that BMI, I'm happy in the long run that I was able to qualify for surgery.

I don't need to gain 40 I just need 6 lbs. nanat919 weren't the strap weights lumpy? Also, do they ever weight you with only a hospital gown on? (No bra no place to put weights)

The only time they weighed me in a hospital gown was on the day of my surgery. I will confess that for my last couple weight loss visits I ate a big Breakfast, drank a liter of Water, wore my heaviest necklace and kept my keys/phone etc in my pocket with weigh ins because I was afraid if my BMI dropped below 40 insurance wouldn't approve me!

They weighed me in the office only, before one of my required surgeon visits....probably a month before the surgery date. Once I hit the 35 BMI, he told me to refuse to be weighed again in the office again until after surgery. So the last weigh-in showed me being 214.8.....I was Wearing street clothes. I just wore something that wasn't noticeable.....

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
