Stay at Home Mom Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

So after surgery it is suggested to take off 2-3 weeks off from work. I am a stay at home mom. I work once a week for 5 hours and I go to college twice a week. I was hoping to schedule my surgery during winter break to give me a break from school and it's not a big deal to miss work 2-3 times. What I am most worried about is taking care of my daughter right after surgery. Do I need my husband to take off from work while I recover? What have other stay at moms done for recovery?

I didn't but everyone is different. My husband took off only the hospital time to care for the kids. You aren't going to want to lift your children up for a lil while but if they are a lil older I can't imagine how you would be greatly impacted. Good luck!

Thanks for the insight ladies! I had my gallbladder removed 2 years ago and recovered while taking care of my daughter without a problem. So I'm hoping my recovery will be similar to that!

I'm a stay at home mom, and my son just turned one. I'm nervous about this.. I was told I can't lift more than 10 pounds for 4 weeks.

My sister will be helping the first week, then my husband is working from home the second week. I'll have to play it by ear after that. If I need to, I'll have my husband put him in the car for me in the mornings, and go to my parents house.

He is walking, and can go up stairs, but not down, and we have a lot of stairs in our house. He can eat on the floor if he has to, so I don't have to worry about his high chair, and I can do my best to avoid leaving the house and dealing with putting him in his car seat. My biggest concern is getting him in and out of his crib.

Hopefully it will all be smooth sailing, and I'm worrying for nothing!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
