Hi all. I'm having trouble getting all of my Protein in. I'm getting so bored with chicken breast. I don't care for turkey burgers, or any type of fish/tuna. Can someone please share an example of what they eat in a day? I'm still on the soft diet.

When I was on soft food I ate a lot of Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I also had refried Beans pretty often. You can also still have liquids like Soups, puddings, and of course Protein shakes.

A lot of folks like ricotta bake. I found it a little rich for my taste.

I know it gets pretty boring but this phase will pass. Hang in there.

@@Inner Surfer Girl thank you!! Do you have a carb limit you try to stay under? I'm worried about the carbs in like unsweetened applesauce, sugar free puddings, etc. Those are the things that most comfortably "go down" right now. Thr unsweetened applesauce has 12 carbs. It is kind of hard to steer clear of all carbs. I just don't want to jeopardize my diet.

I still have a hard time with Protein unless I add powders, drinks & bars. I add 10g to my yogurt every morning ... making it 25g. I add a drink during the day which is 20-23g. And if I am still not close with the rest of my food for the day I have a Protein Bar for "dessert" at night.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I focus on Protein. This early out if you just keep individual foods low carb then you really don't need to worry about carb counts. You only have so much room, so if you get in your Protein you don't have much room for anything else.

Unsweetened (no sugar added) applesauce and peaches were fine by my NUT, but I don't have more than one a day.

I like Dannon Light and Fit yogurt. Its protein to carb ratio is pretty good.

I liked the ProtiDiet pudding because it has protein already in it. You can also make your own protein pudding, just make sure you use sugar-free pudding mix and low-fat milk (I use 1%).

Choose low or lower fat cheeses when possible.

I also liked the ProtiDiet Soups (creamy chicken and Tomato basil). I used those a lot because I was tired of everything being so sweet.

For my second week of soft foods I was able to add soft fish (like tuna, tilapia, and salmon).

If in doubt, reread your program materials and call your NUT. I know mine is very helpful with ideas.

Just remember: protein, protein, protein. And Fluid, Fluid, fluid.

@ rusybel4ti....what powder do you add (to your yogurt)? Protein powder, like the one you make the shakes with?

I use nectar unflavored medical grade protein powder to add to foods. 1 scoop is 10g. I also use their drinks because they are fruit flavored, lighter than others I have tried, and mixed with Water not milk. Since I can't drink milk, this is a huge bonus for me. I also add ice cubes to make them super cold.

I am pre-sleeve(surgery is sept. 1, 2015), but have been testing out Proteins because I can't tolerate many of them. So far, I LOVE WonderSlim pudding/shakes(I have vanilla and chocolate cream and mix with non-fat milk instead of Water for an extra oomph of protein) as well as the WonderSlim chicken and vegetable cream Soup. I have also found BariWise chicken bouillon pretty tasty and surgeon/NUT approved it for my liquid stage after surgery. I order all of these through Diet Direct. Sorry I'm not much help being pre-sleeve and whatnot, but those are some high Protein, "bariatric approved" items that I've tried.

I bought mine from my surgeon and online at Bariatric Choice. Now that I think about it, my favorite is actually WonderSlim Dark chocolate that I got from Bariatric Choice. I like it as is or with the addition of PB2.< /p>

I love ricotta bake. I eat dannon triple zero vanilla Greek yogurt with some thawed frozen berries over top each morning for Breakfast. I eat light cheese strings for Snacks, hummus with cheese crisps (baked shredded cheese) for a treat!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
