Hello everyone

I am Isabella

I just had surgery this last Thursday and it wasn't what I was expecting. No one told me about the pain every told me its painless.

I had the worst experience in the hospital . A lot of throwing up and throwing up blood. My stomach was in the worst pain. Now it's been a week I feel much better I can finally hold food down but I haven't been able to have a bowl movement.

Which is driving me crazy.

I am excited to in this community . post-260986-14399437581981_thumb.jpg

I didn't have the same experience as you. I never threw up and especially not blood. I have minimal pain from the incisions. The most uncomfortable I was, came from laying down snd turning over from side to side. I solved that issue with a small pillow I would hold against my stomach when I turned over. I had been told it would be painful and I expected the worse! I'm sorry you had such a difficult time. I'm also glad it is getting better for you!

Welcome. I had some pain, but it was very manageable. What does doctor say? Are you taking stool softeners?

Not everyone is the same so that is unfortunate that you ended up in a lot of pain. Glad you are doing better now! stool softeners are your friend!

I had a ton of nausea. Actually I had to spend an extra night in the hospital because of it. I had my sleeve surgery last Wednesday and was discharged on Friday.

Everyone's surgery is different. DH had the surgery a month before I did and he has the sleeve of a steel and I don't. Two days following being discharged form the hospital I was admitted to the ER for dehydration (and extremely painful migraines). My recovery time has been different from his. I was in a fair amount of pain for the first week, plus dizziness. He can eat most things with no problem, I eat something and it comes back up.

I think the main thing is to focus on you. Your body is different than the next persons. The gas pains will go away. Keep walking, keep drinking, eat small bites...A month from now things will start being "normal". You just have to get through the first two weeks. I found the first week to obviously be the worst, and then by the second week I started to have energy again. Just focus on why you had the surgery and what you hope to obtain with your new tool.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
