kleta 0 Posted July 5, 2007 I wanted to find out what most people wear after surgery? I am sure comfortable clothing. What about underwire bras and undergarmets. Help-surgery in just a couple days!
faithmd 14 Posted July 5, 2007 I wore a loose dress and definitely NOT an underwire bra. I also had my DH mark my stomach with a Sharpie where my underwire sits and where i wear my waistband so that those areas would be avoided during the surgery. Ariel 1 Posted July 5, 2007 I wore my gym pants and a sweatshirt without a bra. I don't think i wore a bra for like a week after surgery. It was much better without one. I did ask my doctor when I could wear an underwire bra and she looked at me like i had two heads and said i could wear one that day. So its all up to you. Good luck. farmmomto2 0 Posted July 5, 2007 On the road home (4+hours) I wore a long shorts set without a bra. I went about 2 or 3 days before I put my bra back on. I did not want to cause any extra irritation to my staples.
Jachut 487 Posted July 5, 2007 I had no problem wearing an underwire bra and jeans home the next day.
SimplyMe 0 Posted July 6, 2007 I with Jachut...I wore an underwire bra and jeans home no problem! I have to say though about 2-3 days out i was bloated with lots of gas and chose to wear loose stuff for a couple of days! But could always wear an underwire bra. faithmd 14 Posted July 6, 2007 I think whether or not you could wear an underwire, or a bra at all would depend on a multitude of factors: How large breasted are you? How heavy are you? How thick is your midsection? Where did your incisions end up?
jmarruda 22 Posted July 6, 2007 what faithmd said, i wore loose yoga pants and a t shirt home with no bra. but the girls were in the way of the incisions, if you know what i mean...
Serena 0 Posted July 6, 2007 I wore what is sometimes called a "leisure bra", one of the sturdier ones. I wore loose cotton jersey pants and shirts from the moment I got back to my room so I could roam the halls in something other than a hospital gown. I'm 4 1/2 weeks post-op and my underwire bras still are a little uncomfortable but at my age, I need all the support I can get!
rrkeithsgirl 0 Posted July 7, 2007 I am getting banded on 7/16 and since my girls are pretty large, I asked the question about underwire. I was told that it will not be an issue and to wear comfy clothing. Hope that helps!
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted July 7, 2007 I don't have much on top so I hardly ever wear a bra other than to work anyway. I wore elastic waist pants for about a week, and a sports bra to work. I went back to work right away.
mrspruett 0 Posted July 7, 2007 I wore sweat pants and a sports bra. I do not think I could have tolerated underwire or jeans! The soreness for me only lasted a few days. My port area was tender for about 10 days. Goodluck!!!
TracyinKS 7 Posted July 8, 2007 yoga pants (wide band elastic) and a front hook bra... even with the bra my incision between the girls got a little irritated and bled a bit from it, but it would of been far worse had the girls been swinging free! As soon as I was back in the room and fully awake I put my clothes on and started to walk the halls and go to the bathroom draggin my IV bag with me.... everyone seemed suprised but I knew I had to go back to work in a few days so I was walking that gas out aSAP
Denise 0 Posted July 8, 2007 I wore a gym outfit---tank, pants and jacket. The pant had a draw string..so it wouln't be too tight, and the jacket allowed me to not wear a bra.
o2bthin 0 Posted July 8, 2007 I got some bras and matching underwear at Walmart called "the most comfortable" or something like that. They are like t-shirt bras and I've been wearing them since surgery. They are great. I wore pull on capris and a cute t-shirt before and after surgery. You will definitely have some swelling in your belly area.
