Niki,

At two weeks post op did your surgeon okay bread and Peanut Butter? I'm a week post op and on week two I start puréed foods for about a four week period. Have to wonder if your temptation to satisfy a craving was the reason for your pain. Stick to your doctors plan if you deviated by eating this food today. Feel better

Hi Nikki,

You REALLY shouldn't be eating anything that solid right now. You need to be really careful while your little pouch is healing up. Even once your cleared you'll have to take it slow. Call your doctor and speak to the nurse, you probably just made a mistake and you'll be fine but, I would let them know. Please be careful and take care of yourself! I know all the stages kinda suck, but they are what will keep you safe and healthy. Take care !

Oh my goodness. It is so strange how doctors differ. I was on Clear liquids week 1, full liquids week 2, puréed foods until week 4 and soft foods until 8 weeks post op.

At 2 weeks I could barely handle 2 tablespoons of creamed Soup without being uncomfortable.

Even now I struggle with bread of any kind. I cannot imagine trying to eat it at 2 weeks. In fact soft foods took some getting used to before it finally started to get comfortable.

I am very glad this was the diet I was required to follow. I believe I had no complications because of it.

I hope you feel better soon. Don't give in to those cravings at this stage.bits just not worth it.

I agree with Dj, it definitely wasn't fun but, I think the diet we both followed is the norm and the best way to go. You have to think, there are fresh wounds in there. You wouldn't rub sandpaper on a brand new skin graft or fresh stiches, that's essentially what rough textured food is to your new delicate belly right now. Stick to pureed then graduate to soft. If the doctors don't recommend that, ask us, we'll tell you how our doctors had us do it.

Crackers worked better for me than bread or toast early on... well even now(4 months post-op). Also 3 bites is a bit much...you have to think my pouch is the size of my thumb that's 2 bites max. My doc said he would rather I eat 2 bites every couple of hours than eat too much at one sitting. Don't get discouraged though, the first couple of months are the worst, because your healing, and then adjusting to your new life. After that you get used to what you can eat, and how much you can eat, and things are much easier. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
