Good morning all !!! I hope everyone is doing good. I had a very positive experience (happy moment) today and it made me think of all the happy moments the last 5 months has brought to me.

None of my pants fit... so I have purchased belts. Today, I went to the second ring loop on my belt (when I bought the belt it did not fit). YEAH! Happy Moment.

anyone else want to share?

My surgery was july 11 (just over 5 weeks ago). My bmi has gone from 30 to 24.9, in other words I've gone from obese to overweight to normal!! Eeek, normal!!

It's incredible to feel so much better about my appearance and so proud of my hard work on this journey!! I love having the energy and the ability to workout! While I exercise or even just go about my day, I'm sometimes struck with awe with what my body can do now and the lack of aches and pains and fatigue!! It seems to want to be pushed harder and harder!

In a word, I feel FREE!!

I bought new clothes last year, thought I was done loosing weight. Now I can put them on and take them off without unbuttoning them. I had lost another fifteen pounds.

I am a new person! Had surgery 5 months and am down 65lbs and 35lbs away from my goal weight. I am happier, seeing my friends and family more, confidence has increased and i am happy! The best decision i ever made. Every 10lbs i lose i drop down a size. I go to the gym, i have a new relationship with food and i dont want to consume unhealthy food again. Wish i had done this 10 years ago but better late than never!

I'm 4 weeks out and I find myself crossing my legs a lot, and it's easy! Plus I reached my first benchmark/milestone that I set. As of today I weigh 225 pounds; haven;t been this weight since 2008. Wahoo!

My happiest moment was going camping a couple of weeks ago and not having to worry which chair that I was sitting in by the camp fire. I bought my own a while back that could handle a heavier capacity and always stressed about only sitting in that one. Also, I have always loved pictures, but panicked sometimes when one would be taken. Now, I worry a lot less. This entire experience has made me happy!!

Forgot this one too... realizing that my current weight is less than my weight on my drivers license (which was a lie to begin with!)

I never changed my weight on my drivers licence the whole time I was obese. No one ever said anything. I changed it last time. Now it's wrong again. I'm thinner now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
