Is this normal? What is happening?

Recommended Posts

When I (finally) get in some sort of comfortable position enough to fall asleep, and then wake up and stand up, I feel like my guts are going to bust through my stomach. Is this normal? Its not only after Ive fallen asleep but if I take a break/rest. I know things are swollen and it doesnt really hurt, it just feels like a very heavy blob...for lack of better words lol...what is exactly going on and when will it stop? Any way of it not happening?

Yeah pretty normal if you are feeling it while using your abdominal muscles to stand up. Hold a pillow against your stomach/incisions/abdominal muscles while you rise and it helps a ton!

As for why? No clue but it happens every time I've had any abdominal surgery--c section, gall bladder removed, WLS and Tummy Tuck

when i had my csections it helped to have a support garment on (kind of like a loose girdle). I'm going to ask for one at the hospital. You can buy them at medical supply places, sometimes at Walgreen Pharmacy etc.

Thanks ladies! Youre right, I did feel this with other abdominal surgeries Ive had. The pillow helped, I also have a support garment I can use...gotta find it! :)
