Hey Everyone,

I haven't written in a long time but I have been trying to keep up with everyone. I was banded on the 9th of March and am down 33 lbs. I have gone from a size 16 to a size 12 (which is kinda of loose but 10's too tight.) I feel great. I have 2 fills and the last one has been a little tough. (11cc band and I have 6.7cc in) but I know if has been from not chew, chew, chewing!!

I still have more to lose but everyone says I look great and not to lose any more but I think health wise I need too. I haven't told my husband this but the other day at the grocey store parking lot I had a guy came up to me and asked if I would go out to dinner with him the next night. I smiled and told him I was married, and thanked him for asking. I felt really good. I have several other men give me that up and down look and smile. My ego has needed that. At 50 I can still turn heads, even my girls have noticed it. They aren't sure what to say. hehe

My knees don't hurt anymore, I don't get out of wind as easly. And best of all I don't get hurgey. I don't eat Breakfast because I am to tight. I have a well balance lunch and small dinner. Most of the time after dinner I am done for the day in the eating deptment, if my husband get ice cream I have a bit or two of his and am happy with just that. The grocey store bill sure has dropped. When we go out to eat, I get something small and either my husband finishes it or I take it home. I have been putting it off but I think I need to tell my husband all this extra food has put a few pounds on him. He has been very supportive in this journey and enjoys the new look.

I have had fun getting new clothes and even wearing heels everyday. I've trying out new make up tricks and new hair dos. I am even sleeping naked at night.

So this was a good thing, a very good thing. I have no regrets. I have learned alot and continue to learn everyday. I LOVE my band.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
