8 weeks post-op - hair loss already?

Recommended Posts

It's not a huge concern because I have plenty of hair - PLENTY of hair - but I'm noticing more coming out in the shower when I wash then usual.

When does Hair loss happen typically? Is 8 weeks post-op too soon?

For me, surgical hair loss (or after childbirth) has always been at 16 weeks post op, but I don't know if everyone is different or if this is typical. I don't have a whole lot of hair to begin with, and I had been preparing for this by taking extra Biotin. I have been using rogaine for a couple of years and I meet my Protein requirements, but none of that has helped with the surgical Hair loss. It's frustrating, isn't it? I am just continuing to meet or exceed daily Protein requirements, taking my Vitamins, and drinking lots of Water in hopes that when my hair finally stops falling out the new growth will come in quickly. I hope you don't have too rough a time with yours! Oh and congratulations on your success at 8 weeks post op. It looks like you are losing a lot more than just hair! :)

I am about 9 weeks post op and have not experienced much yet, but from what my doctor has told me it typically begins around 4 months.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
