Surgery tomorrow and nervous...

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have my surgery tomorrow and prior to last week I felt very good about it. Now I'm getting anxious and super nervous and at times even second guessing my decision sad.png . I think it's just nerves, but still I keep stressing. I didn't have to do a 2 week liquid diet, just a 2 day (one day full liquid-yesterday and one day clear liquid-today) and that has been SUCH a struggle for me!!! I'm concerned that I only have a two day diet and I'm struggling, what if I had the 2 week diet? I'm nervous that if I'm stuggling this much now, what's going to happen after surgery? Am I not ready??

What about old habits? So many people regain and though I believe (and pray) that I will change my eating habits and my way of thinking and relationship with food, but doesn't everyone go into this thinking that way? Obesity has been a life long struggle for me, so what if I get to my goal, get comfortable and revert back to my old eating habits? I'm especially worried now that I am struggling with this 2 day diet.

I'm also starting to stress about Vitamins, taking them 5 times a day and spacing them out properly, I'm worried what if I don't stick to it like I'm supposed to?

I'm sure it's just surgery jitters but I'm really stressing. Any comments or advice?? Does it get better or worse after surgery? Thanks in advance.

I am having my bipass tomorrow as well.

I take Centrum Vitamin 1 a day as recommended, you might want to look into this.

I am on day 13 of the liquid/protein diet and it is very difficult. But, what I was told is that this part is the most difficult part. After the surgery, you are not hungry and you follow the prescribed diet. Apparently, sugary food and fatty food gives diarrhea, that is a great way not to touch it.

I was also told that your tastes change, you no longer crave the bad stuff. There are lots of good things you can have after just a few weeks. Plus everytime you go on the scale, that is a fantastic motivator!

Who wants to eat a donut when they know in advance it will make them sick and they just weigh themselves and were 2 lbs down from a few days ago!

I lost 8lbs in 13 days and that helped my motivation, so I am going in tomorrow knowing that the worse will be over soon and my new life starts tomorrow!

Lots of courage to you, everything will be fine, lets keep ea other updated.

Hugs.

Good Morning @@mimic86! I haven't had my surgery yet, but I wanted to let you know that all of the things you are worrying about seem completely normal to me. You are not alone!

The day I got my surgery date, I was elated! As each day has passed, I've second guessed my choice a million times and ran through a list of all the things that could go wrong and how I could screw this second chance up! Believe me, not one moment has passed where I haven't been scared to death.

But, realistically the reward far outweighs the risk and I am confident that after the surgery is all said and done, I will look back and all of these worries and anxieties and know they were worth every moment and every pound lost.

Congratulations on your second chance at life and best of luck to you during surgery and beyond...I know you'll do great!! xo You're braver and stronger than you think!

@@Madeleine Renee Same to you! Good luck and best wishes on your journey!

Good luck on your surgery. I had RNY gastric bypass surgery and I lost hunger. Without hunger constantly gnawing at my bones it wasn't difficult to lose weight. Not everyone experiences this loss of appetite but many do. It is rough in the beginning because of the complexity. But then things improve. I reached my "Happy State" when all the small issues and problems were resolved at the 6 month mark.

Just remember after surgery, the most important requirements are daily Protein, fluids and Vitamins. food is secondary because your body is converting stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus your fat is burned away and you lose weight. Remember the daily walking. It will make the recovery process slip into high gear.

@@mimic86 Glad to hear everything went swimmingly for you!! I don't think it's bad, it sounds normal to me, but I also haven't had surgery yet so I can't be too sure if what you're experiencing is "Head hunger" or actual hunger! Maybe a veteran can help you with this one :)

So happy for you!! xo

@@Madeleine Renee How about you, how're you doing after your surgery? Hope all is well!

After the surgery, in the hospital, Wednesday, I was not hungry at all. but, when they served food to others, boy oh boy it smelled good!!!

And all I got was 1/2 a beef bouillon and a Protein jelle that tasted pretty bad. It was so hot in the bedroom that the Jello melted!!! Never saw that before! Over 100F outside, record breaking and extremely humid.. That part was difficult.

I have had uncontrolled diabetes for the last year. Today, morning reading is 92 ! Insulin might be over soon!

That pleases me.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
