Full or Eating too fast?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 8/5/15. I'm on Stage 3 and I'm confused about if the feeling of constantly burping (very mild) and sometimes mild back pain followed by uneasy filling that the last bite did not go down. I chew my food to mush consistency and normally wait until the feeling go away or stop eating. I'm trying new foods so normally I'll end up eating 1 to 1/2oz each meal.

I'm only 6 days post op so not an expert but I think the back pain feeling is fullness. Not sure though.

Chew food at 11 days? I can not imagine how you are handling that. Well actually it sounds like not well. My advice is call your team and make sure you are understanding your plan correctly. Until you get a response from them go back to just liquids.

Ty for responding but i know for sure that I do not have to go back to liquids..lol. I'm doing very well. I've never experienced nausea and have been able to keep everything done since surgery. I know it's a process with learning my sleeve & body's response. I just need to id this 1.

My suggestion is soft baked fish like swai or cod. I season it and bake it in the oven with a spray of coconut oil and seasonings, in a parchment paper pocket. That is what I lived on with Protein shakes. Measure/weigh it though. Start with 2oz and work your way up.

My fullness is in my chest where my stomach is, never had any back pains.

Did you skip the purée food stage?

Real food for me didn't happen until 6 weeks after surgery. When my NUT and Dr cleared me to do so after my 2nd post op visit. Next week makes 12 weeks and I'm down 81lbs so far.

Every Dr & food stage is different. I did not have to go through a puree stage.

I'm on a detail plan to reintroduce soft foods back in stages. I'm loosing weight. .so it's not stopping my progress.

I had the same thing. I am 4 months out now. I found that it was the full feeling cuz if I took one more bite I was over full and paying the price. I learnt really fast what the full mark felt like. Also I still get burpy after some meals depending what I ate.

I am 15 days post op and have been eating full liquids and soft foods for a few days already. I have only been eating, egg over medium, oatmeal and smooshed vegs.Tried tuna, but it was a bit much. Had sushimi, yellowtail, that is fine. If something does not agree, I go back to my oatmeal or make my own Protein shakes with tofu and yogurt and fruit.

I noticed that I had a back pain during my 2nd week post op. I think it was just that I was putting more stress on my back to be careful of my stomach. It went away a few days after that and never had it back. (I think for me it was also because I was relaxing a lot and laying down) I definitely can tell when I eat too fast or too much though. It feels like someone is sitting on my chest. But, I am happy to say I am 4 months out and have not gotten sick at all after surgery. Good luck to you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
