In the first few days of my new life...

Day 12 since surgery and I finally have energy! still doing clear liguids, cream Soups (strained), SF Jello, broth. The scale seems to have stopped moving. This is disappointing. Are you all experiencing this? It would be MY body to find a way around a surgery! jk

I am 12 days out and my scale has stalled as well. Bizarre to me since I am eating very little... I know this can't be it! I will just keep on going...

2 more days on liquids... Counting down to soft foods.. I can't wait. This weekend was hard bc I was at a family BBQ with AMAZING food and did not have one bite. I drank my shake. Drank Water, had some yogurt and then later some cottage cheese.. That was it. I don't think a scrambled egg will ever taste so good! How is everyone else doing?

Congrats on making it through that BBQ!!! Do you add anything to the cottage cheese?

I just had a Manhattan clam chowder puréed. I had been looking forward to it, but I did not like it. Cream of chicken and cream of Tomato is the only thing I seem to enjoy. I need to calculate how many more days I have till scrambled eggs. I'm so looking forward to the mushy food stage.

@gaelsmom...I have had the cottage cheese with a spoonful of applesauce... And then the other day I added everything bagel spice to my cottage cheese for something savory.. I needed something other than sweet.

Had my surgery Aug 20th. Hate hate hate the clear liquid stage. Looking forward to pudding and yogurt on Thursday.

No real pain other than up in my ribs and back. Hard to take a deep breath. I think this is from the hiatal hernia repair though.

I went back to work AUg 24th. Tired mostly. ANd I am not coming close to my Protein or liquid intake. Hope Im not making myself sick because of it.

I can't have cottage cheese yet. The soup situation is still a discovery to me. I started at 1/2 cup but can put in 1 cup. However I tend to suffer if I do that for a few minutes.

I can drink nearly a cup of premier Protein.

@@theatrejo you are brave for going back in such a short time. As others have said, focus on liquids and stay hydrated. Protein will fall into place soon.

So yesterday was the first time I ate soft mushy foods. It coincided with a birthday celebration and I was at a restaurant. I got grilled tilapia. It was hard watching everyone eat, have drinks and once my food came out, I could only eat four bites. I had to get up and walk for a few minutes. And while I know what I signed up for and why, it still wasn't easy to nit feel down about not being able to enjoy a meal per se or a drink with my food. Anyone else experience this?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
