Tummy tuck before sleeve

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had WLS after getting a Tummy Tuck? I'm a little worries that they will not have enough room in there to do the sleeve since my muscles have been pulled so tight after my tummy tuck. Had the tuck 3 years ago after significant weight loss however I gained it all back :(

I had the sleeve after a Tummy Tuck. No issues. Luckily I didn't stretch out my pretty tummy and now it looks great again.

I had my sleeve after a Tummy Tuck and I was worried about damage to mu muscle repair. It was one of my first questions to the surgeon. But he explained how with laproscopic surgery they don't actually cut through the muscle, just go in between the fibers and I had no issues. Was able to get back to core strength training very quickly. And the pain from VSG was NOTHING compared to the pain from my tummy tuck with muscle repair!

I had one in 2008. I had no problems with sleeve surgery. I also had to pregnancies. Bizarrely my abdomen is still very flat. My nurse in the hospital asked for the name of my surgeon :)

Yeah, I regained 80 pounds after my Tummy Tuck and my stomach stayed flat through it all. It looks amazing now that I'm down to 12 pounds less than when I had the tummy tuck in the first place. If you look at the before pics in my gallery, you can see how flat my stomach was even when I was back up to 240+ pounds.

You and I have very similar height, starting weight and goals - also the tummy tuck! You have done great - hope I will do similar.

I'll be posting new progress pics after my 1 year surgiversary on Sept. 1st. Hoping to be at goal by then, but these last 4 pounds are being very stubborn!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
