Heartburn Pain ?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I recevied my second fill last Thursday and during my appointment the doctor had asked If i had any vomiting or heartburn and I said no, because I haven't.

NOW.. .I have been getting a lot of heart burn after I eat.. Yesterday it started and again today. It's really painful and feels like chest pain. I took a tum yesterday and it was better.. .Now here at work, I ate an egg and am experiencing the SAME heart burn feeling..

What is that?? I thought I'd ask here first before I called the doctor. :help:

Kelsy - I think heartburn is pretty common, although I don't know what causes it. The bigger concern would be if you started having reflux. That would mean your band is too tight.

ok thank you!

it doesn't last long, but I wanted to be sure it wasn't too tight.

I wonder if it may be too tight, I am eating SLOW, taking my time and chewing... But it's like the first COUPLE of bites and I feel it.

I will do even smaller portions and go even slower and see if it helps. If not, I guess I'll call my doctor.. Band MAY be too tight.

Heartburn is an interesting thing amongst bandsters. Some people who had it frequently, don't get it after being banded (me), some people who never had it before being banded, get it after being banded. For me, the only 2 times I have had heartburn was once when I was too tight with my fill, and once when I took Aleve for the tendinitis in my wrist.

Since your doctor asked you about it specifically, you may want to mention it to him.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
