Barely reaching 400 calories/day!

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm 2 weeks post op. I barely drink 1 cup of chicken broth. 1 Jello. 1 yoghurt. 3 cups of unsweetened juice. 1.5 litrs of Water.

Haven't lost a single kg starting day 7. Feeling thirsty with dry mouth.

Is any of this normal? I can't get myself to eat more of yougurt/jello. And where I live there isn't pure Protein liquid to get.

Thanks

Can you not order it online and have it delivered? I found mixing Protein powder with a pint of Water was a good way to get both Protein and fluids in, in the first 2 weeks.

Try ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrate or Isopure if you are on Clear Liquids. Both can be ordered online. I also could get the ProtiDiet through my surgeon's office. I think you can get Isopure at places like GNC.< /p>

Keep sipping away at the liquids and Protein (yogurt, etc.). If I remember correctly, my mouth was dry early out, too. I wouldn' t worry unless you aren't getting fluids down. Keep working on it. It gets better every day as the swelling goes down.

Also, stay off of the scale. You are still swollen and healing from surgery.

I don't know what resources are available in Egypt, so your surgeon's office would be a great place to start for suggestions about Protein sources. I do know yogurt is a good place to start.

Keep us posted on the n how you are doing.

I don't know if I would say 400 calories a day is horrible since I was on a clear liquid diet for two weeks post op. hang in there I hope you figure out where to get your Protein in.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
