Can I have regular coffee?

Recommended Posts

I was told to limit my coffee intake, so I heat up a cup of milk in the microwave and then top it off with about 4 oz. of coffee. I get 8g of Protein and it tastes wonderful. Maybe it's just the hot beverage I needed, but I drink it first thing in the morning and again around 3. Wonderfully satisfying!

I drink it at least once a day with a pure Protein Shake and sf Torani Syrup mixed in! It's delicious! Like a fancy coffee from Dutch Brothers! Plus I get 30gms of Protein in each one! My NUT ok'd it for me! I have two on my weekends!

I didn't have coffee until 9 months out. The doctor and nurse said it could stress out the stomach and cause heartburn. After three month appointment they said you can try it. I didn't because I was over the withdrawals and didn't want to deflect from what I was doing.

A couple of weeks ago I was getting low on energy and decided maybe caffeine could help me out and it did. There was probably better things I could of done but now I'm back on the coffee train. Just be focused on your goals before jumping off into a different direction. Good luck.

My program allows for Decaf after the first three days, but no caffeine at all (coffee, tea or otherwise) for eight weeks following surgery. The NUT told us they didn't want us to have any caffeine until the sleeve is fully healed.

I think I'm ok to drink but I also know for sure that I am a recovering caffeine addict, the only time I feel a spike is when I have tea, and the food commercials and restaurants I pass don't phase me, it's when I walk into a store and see the energy drink aisles, especially convenience stores in the coolers, Monster, Red Bull, Starbucks, oh man I'm shaking lmao.......

my doctor said one cup of coffee with caffeine a day is okay( as long as ur keeping up with Water intake) ...but to make sure it's black or with alittle skim milk if anything. when I used to suffer from kidney stones and dehydration my urinologist used to say for every drink that's a diuretic, up your water by 8oz to cancel it out. hope that helps!

My biggest issue is that I love coffee with cream and sugar. I've tried drinking it with Splenda and can't. So I gave it up before surgery and haven't wanted the extra calories after. So, no coffee for me

I'm 2 weeks out from surgery and I had been drinking sugar free iced tea mixes in my Water. I didn't realize they had caffeine and I had horrible acid reflux even while taking the prescribed Pepcid. My instructions say decaffeinated coffee for preventing dehydration and acid reflux. Oops!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
