So I wanted to check in with you all and see what you think of my eating today-I am discouraged by my snack and I couldn't figure out why I was so hungry but I did work out extra hard tonight...

Breakfast-protein shake

Lunch-4-5 bites of lemon pepper fish

Snack-string cheese

Dinner-tuna melt minus the bread

Snack-small piece of leftover pizza

Does this sound ok? I am 5 weeks out. I went for a 2 mile walk, did a Jillian Michaels workout and did my PT toning exercises tonight

Does your plan call for eating pizza at five weeks post op? My dietician would have horse whipped me, but I guess all plans are different.

Working out is great but IMO not if you use it as an excuse to eat crappy food. If you need more food, maybe try something healthy like a tablespoon of almond butter or adding a couple of avocado slices to your bread-free tuna melt.

The most important thing is to get enough Protein to stop hunger. You don't seem to be reaching even 50 g on that eating plan. I can not imagine how you were able to even eat pizza at 5 weeks...I am about 11 months out and can't eat dough at all. Be careful with that, it can be very painful.

As someone else just said--you aren't getting enough Protein. Do you track your Protein? You should. Protein should be your main focus now and always. You could have a snack of nonfat greek yogurt or some nonfat cottage cheese, some edamame (this is always a nice treat), there is also the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder you can put into other things, or other protein powders. maybe another Protein shake in the evening. But NOT pizza. According to my NUT, I should never have pizza again. Or, at least pizza as you used to know it. I do have it but only eat the toppings if there is a protein on it, especially chicken. I have seen other recipes where you use a big mushroom or eggplant as the crust and then the normal toppings, there are other creative ways you can have pizza eventually. But not now. Way too soon. I think there is a recipe somewhere on here that is kind of like all the toppings and sauce, baked that is supposed to be awesome and you just make it and eat it like that.

Just get back on track, keep a journal of your food and track the protein in it. It's amazing how easy it is to not have much protein and that is supposed to be your main focus.

Ok, you asked us to keep you in check. That says to me you already know you are doing something you shouldn't be.

#1 - you are likely not getting enough Protein in. If this is close to your daily routine, then you can expect to get sick down the road or lose more of your hair than you would if you were getting your Protein. You are in control of this.

#2 - I would not expect to see pizza on your approved foods list at 5 weeks post op. It is clearly not the healthiest choice for you right now. It does not mean that you can never have a piece of pizza again, but it will be sometime before your new tummy is ready for that.

If you need a snack at this point, I would suggest either adding another protein shake in which would boost your protein count or stick with things that have a high protein value like lunch meat, cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese, nuts or seeds. Jerkey is also an excellent option

You are doing fantastic! Steer clear of things that can make you stall like the carbs in that pizza. Many complications can be avoided from WLS by following the plan provided by your doctor exactly.

It is fantastic that your exercise routine is so strong at this stage as well. Keep up the great work and you will reach your goals before you know it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
