emilyphoenix74 49 Posted August 15, 2015 Hi all...im 18 days post op and ive lost 29 lbs total since july 13 preop diet. My surgery was july 27. At first i lost weight fast. But now im loosing 2 2.5 lbs a week. Eating 500-800 calories a day. Low low low cards NO SUGAR and 60-80 grams of Protein. Im worried because thats the weight loss amount i had eating 1500 calories a day. When i yo yo'd all the time. What am i doing wrong?
Elode 8,093 Posted August 15, 2015 Your not doing anything wrong 2.5 lbs a week is a lot and you may slow down even more? If you lost that every week for a year you would lose 130lbs in one year. Everyone wants immediate results but this surgery doesn't guarantee anything. It takes time. Stay off the scale if it's going to upset you. Your not gaining and losing so that's good. If you keep your calories too low you will put your metabolism into starvation mode and eventually you will stop losing. Our bodies use that as a survival mechanism to keep us from dying of starvation. Your doing great!

OasisTerry 13 Posted August 21, 2015 Wow, 29 lbs, good job! I don't believe you are doing anything wrong, we all have our own pace, everyone is different. I had my sleeve in May 7 (Tiajuana, florence hospital) and have lost 52 lbs. I went scale-crazy the first couple of weeks post-op but I'm trying to focus on sizes now. To break my oh-so-frequent stalls, I do one more high Protein meal a day. It might work for you too. Does your doctor have a staff nutritionist you can contact? I email mine every week!
