Cdominguez 26 Posted August 14, 2015 Why am I so hungry only 3 days post op is this normal? Do I have to do this liquid diet omg
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 14, 2015 Yes, you have to do the liquid diet that your team prescribed for you. It is to protect you and keep you safe. As for the hunger, that could be a number of things: -dehydration. If you are not getting at least 64 ounces of fluids, you may be experiencing thirst and thinking it is hunger. Make sure you are hitting your fluid goals.< /p> --head hunger. Are you thinking about specific kinds of food, or would you be happy to eat just about anything? If you would be tempted by a burger or a cupcake but not by a plain piece of grilled chicken breast or a big stalk of steamed broccoli, you aren't really hungry, you are just having cravings. --true hunger. Some people do keep experiencing hunger immediately post-op. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and get through it. Hunger is unpleasant but it isn't an emergency. You aren't going to starve. Have a Protein Shake and go for a walk to take your mind off it. Good luck!
SkinnyDown 409 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) You shouldn't feel physical hunger. If you are getting enough fluids, then it's probably head hunger. Edited August 14, 2015 by carolm1965
bazoooms 4 Posted August 14, 2015 hi c dominguez, i had a lot of hunger pangs (as in most of the time and waking me up at night) till i recently began eating solid foods. also don;t know if this had anything to do with it but i was keeping my carbs way down. but doing the liquid diet is important so your innards can heal up. hang in there! Cdominguez 26 Posted August 14, 2015 ???????????? this is so hard do you guys think a yogurt is ok?
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 15, 2015 @@Cdominguez no it isn't okay unless your doctor or dietician signs off on it. Internet strangers can't give you permission to eat off your dietary plan.
Babbs 14,681 Posted August 15, 2015 this is so hard do you guys think a yogurt is ok? Is it on your plan for for liquids? Do you have a list of approved liquids for this phase? Yes, it's hard. But a lot of this whole journey is hard. Change is hard. But if you really want to do this and be successful, you've got to follow the plan. You've got to learn to delay gratification. You're going to have to do it a lot to lose weight and keep it off. You're 3 days post op. If yougurt is not on your plan at this phase then stick with your liquids and let yourself heal for goodness sakes. It will get easier as time goes on.
