Ok i know this post is going to sound silly to some people. But its serious for me.

Sooo im 1 week post op and havent told my boyfriend (or anybody really) about my surgery besides my mom, dad, sister and manager. Ive been trting to avoid my boyfriend cuz i dont want him to ask for sex. Dr says 6 weeks ???? i havent even seen him in a week and hes starting to become suspicious. I lied and told him i came down with the stomach flu and have only been in the bed sick and throwing up. This week im going to tell him i have to go out of town for a week. The week after that im going to say i have my period. Im out of excuses after that. Lol. Anybody welcome to leave some suggestions/lies for me to tell him lol and telling him the truth about my surgery is NOT an option! Lol any help is greatly appreciated lol

hmmm. If telling him the truth is not an option, it doesn't sound like it's a very serious relationship.

Well you should be able to have sex before 6 weeks, but won't he notice the scars? What kind of relationship do you have if you can't tell him truth?

That's a tough situation that you can't trust him with the fact that you had major surgery and have decided to make some huge changes in your life.

You'd better come up with something crafty to explain the incredible shrinking new you.

The old "dog ate my homework" shenanigans will only last so long unless he's an idiot.

Did you have an open surgery? I can't imagine any reason why you would need to wait six weeks. a week and a half was good enough for me.

I echo what everyone else says about not telling him about the surgery...

Truth is the best option. Have you decide when you are going to tell him. Let's say a couple months from now. How will he feel when he learns the secret downstream and that you did not even trust him with it for so long.

Don't you think he will notice the six scars on your stomach?

Its not that i cant trust him. I just dont want anyone to know. And yes our relationship is fairly new. Weve only been together 4 months. Thanks everyone for your opinions though.

I did the opposite. I ONLY told my girlfriend and nobody else. Couldn't have sex for about 3 weeks (though if I were a woman it probably would have been sooner... "thrusting" sure as hell couldn't have happened at one and a half weeks due to my abdominal pain around my sutures... TMI).

I think before he notices the lack of sex he'll notice that you can't eat food. I suggest telling him you're on your period and opening up the blow job factory for two weeks. He won't mind.

You need to be honest with him

Solid relationship are built upon honesty. Either he will support you or he won't. If he does, perhaps he is a keeper. If he doesn't, than you saved yourself future heartbreak.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
