I have heard about this and my doctor mentioned this to me as well but showed no immediate concern....stumped...

I do. My HR has been in the 50's since I had surgery. Resting HR the other day was 53. It's not something to be too concerned over.

Mine gets as low as 48 - my doctor also said it does not need to work as hard !

I haven't had my surgery yet but have lost almost 50 pounds pre-op. My resting heart beat is always in the 60's now. (started in the 80s) I was told that my heart didn't have to work as hard now that I am losing weight. But...it is always good to monitor it and share info with your doctor. (I have the fitbit Charge HR so I can check it whenever I want.)

Mine is. I've been seeing a cardiologist for it. It's usually in the 40s. He said it's likely related to the vagus nerve. It's still scary and am hoping it'll sort itself out cause i feel fine even though it's low.

Mine goes down to the upper 40's when I'm on pain meds and sleepy. It's fine. Hell, there are some athletes and super healthy people that will breathe 6-8 breaths a minute because their bodies are simply that efficient.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
