imawlsfailure 1 Posted August 13, 2015 I had a revision from a band to a sleeve in 2012 because my band ulcertated. When I had my sleeve, I was told that if it ever ulcerated I'd have have to revise to the bypass. I've been avoiding the symptoms for a year and now I can not eat or have a sip of Water without vomiting. I have heartburn almost always, and I belch frequently. I've moved to another state since surgery, and there are no Bari Surgeons in my area, and the GI dr's won't see me because I've had 5 abdominal surgeries. Anyway, has anyone had their sleeve ulcerate? What was the treatment? Has anyone had to revise from sleeve to bypass?
Pinkgirl1234 761 Posted August 13, 2015 Did you have a 1 part or 2 part procedure.Band out then wait 3 months for revision. It may be the staples. You need to get to a specialist ASAP!There has got to be a good dr in your state. Can the revise sleeve to bypass? VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted August 13, 2015 I don't know for sure what you mean by "ulcerated," but if you have stomach ulcers that condition is often treated by antibiotics. Stomach ulcers are often / usually caused by the bacterium H. pylori. http://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/h-pylori-helicobacter-pylori
ausmith 374 Posted August 14, 2015 Call your last surgeon and ask him to recommend someone close to where you are. If he doesn't know of anyone tell him your symptoms and ask him what you need to do and where to go. Don't delay this any longer. You could be causing irreparable damage the longer you ignore it. Life is to short, don't delay
jane13 2,256 Posted August 14, 2015 @ - call your old surgeon and ask like someone else suggested about another doctor in the area or where to go. if you don't get an answer there I would go to the ER. You can get dehydrated and that would cause grave complications:( keep us posted.
Pinkgirl1234 761 Posted August 14, 2015 I found another dr.His earliest appt is on Sept 1st.If I go to the ER what tests would they perform? They usually won't touch a person who has a band....?
imawlsfailure 1 Posted August 17, 2015 I flew to Dallas the other day for an appt with a surgeon who was able to get me in next day. My sleeve and esophogas is eroded and I have to have a revision to RNY. I'm on weekly infusions, meds to coat my stomach in hopes of keeping food down, and zofran until surgery. I'm so disappointed and scared! I've now failed TWO WLS's!
Pinkgirl1234 761 Posted August 17, 2015 Hang in there and don't be too hard on yourself. The RNY will be successful .
ausmith 374 Posted August 19, 2015 Hang in there, think about how lucky you have caught it with enough time to do something about it. Let us know how you go. Good Luck
