tera1982 194 Posted August 13, 2015 I have my VSG date!!! September 1st is my official date(they had to push it back from the original august 27th)????. I was just wondering how long everyone else's stay in the hospital was. My surgeon says the "norm" for his patients are 1-2 days, meaning 1-2 overnights. Please give me some insight...thanks! borg/assimilated 576 Posted August 13, 2015 I spent two nights due to nausea and not being able to drink as much as they wanted me to post op.
jfzimmerman 50 Posted August 13, 2015 Just overnight for me. I had no complications, very little nausea and no vomiting. Thank the lord!

wheezysmom 146 Posted August 13, 2015 I was supposed to only stay one night but I earned an extra night in the hospital because I wasn't able to drink enough Water.
avRose 20 Posted August 13, 2015 I only stayed one night! My surgeon offered to let me go home a few hours after my procedure because it went so well, but I still insisted on staying the night. And I'm glad I did because I had horrible heartburn that night and needed the nurses!
BrownEyedTxGirl 139 Posted August 13, 2015 4 hours! I was released 4 hours after I was moved to recovery! No issues at all and was super happy to be relaxing in my own home. Was off the pain meds within 48 hours. Less than two weeks post-op and feel like a million bucks!
MrsRoboto 370 Posted August 13, 2015 My program required a 2 night stay. However, I did so well and was feeling so great that they let me leave after one night.
zonetracy 53 Posted August 13, 2015 I stayed just one night which is the minimum for sleeve patients with my surgeon and was released when the doc was making her rounds first thing in the morning. Had to wait till paperwork was done and left the hospital around 10:00.
majorsmama 91 Posted August 13, 2015 Surgery was at 2:30pm and was discharged at 2pm the next day.
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted August 13, 2015 Believe your surgeon! Most everyone I know of has been home in a day or two unless there is some kind of complication. My surgery was on Monday and I came home on Tuesday.
KnowUrWorth 17 Posted August 13, 2015 I'm from Australia so things may be different here but I'm booked for a 5 day stay!
_Kate_ 2,224 Posted August 13, 2015 I had surgery on Thursday around 5pm and left hospital n the Sunday about 3pm. I felt that was perfect for me.
chasingpolaris321 214 Posted August 13, 2015 I stayed three nights because I couldn't drink Water and they had a hard time controlling my pain level. I didn't have any actual complications, and I am glad they held me. I needed IV pain meds and going home too soon would have been doable but very uncomfortable. I think the majority of people stay 1-2 nights.
