Hi --- my name is Princess Willow and I live in Oregon. I am seven days from being banded. I am being banded for my birthday. The best present I will give myself is the gift of health.

The 10 days of nothing but liquid is so very difficult. I think of eating yummy stuff all day. I found this site for encouragement and support.

I am going to Dr. Huacuz. I have set a goal and am journaling.

Anyone else journaling? How has that helped you? Any suggestions for getting through the ten days? ---

Thought for the day..... Nothing tastes as good as thin is going to feel!!!!

Hi princess, I'm a Huacuz patient as well.

I didn't do any journaling, but I can see where it can be helpful. There are on line journals somewhere here on LBT.

All the best next week. Keep us posted.

Devana,

When did you get banded with Dr. Huacuz? How was your care and the facility?

any helpful hints for me?

Anything I should do before or bring with me for comfort? I am flying there and back.

Thanks for responding and the encouragement! :)

Take a smallish pillow and some Gas-X strips. The pillow is to pad the seat belt on the plane and in the car.

Princess, I'm very happy with my care at the clinic, which was bright and clean. Everybody was friendly and helpful and they were particularly attentive with the aftercare. I had a bit of a seroma the day after surgery and I called Dr. H on a Sunday evening at home. He was there, he answered!! He sent Dr Romero over to check it out.

I went down with a friend who got banded the same time and we were feeling well enough to go out and do a bit of shopping near the hotel.

Please feel free to PM me if you have any other specific questions.

Hi, This is the first time I have posted on this site so I hope I am doing it correctly! I am seriously thinking of using Dr Huacuz for lap band, how was the facility? I have already talked to him ont he phone & was amazed he actually picked up! Sounds very nice, but I am still nervous.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
