I am banded. I woke up this morning with pain down my spine. That's where I hurt when my gerd acts up. I took 4 Zantac, hour later I ate 4 saltines. Nothing worked. 3 hours ago I drank some chocolate milk, which soothes it instantly. But, then hurt within 30 minutes. I ate a container of Greek yogurt, that finally got rid of it about 2 hours ago. I just now ate a lil cabbage and sausage, no spices. It is back. I haven't had a big issue with it in over a year, with the exception of slight acid reflux once in a while at night. What does anyone suggest? I am hurting. (i have no Fluid in my band because of some erosion)

Go purchase some Prevacid or Prilosec. It is over the counter now. Zantac is a rather weak acid reflux pill.

First, let me explain that I have no experience with bands, so whatever I say take with a grain of salt. This problem may not be GERD related. If it continues you might want to seek the professional help from your doctor. You indicated that your band is currently empty because of some erosion. There was one individual in our bariatric support group meeting that went from a band to a RNY revision because his band was eroding though his stomach. The band had to be removed. The erosion was very serious.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
