hmj2015 13 Posted August 11, 2015 Hi, everyone. I just was banded last Thursday and want to thank all of you for the great posts I have been reading that keep me going!! I am down 16 lbs since the start of my pre-surgery liquid diet. I went to my post-op appt today and she said that about 25% of people gain back at this point and 25% stay the same. I am so worried about this and not continuing to lose. Has this happened to anyone? I know it will discourage me and knock me off track so quickly.
JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted August 12, 2015 Please don't worry. This far post op it is very common to gain a few pounds back. You've been on liquids pre op and eating very little right after surgery. Then your body swells from the surgery. Then you start to eat full liquids or soft foods. The small gain will come back off, I promise. Stay active and stay on your food plan. It will all start coming off quickly again, soon. Congrats and good luck !

KerryS 5 Posted August 14, 2015 Hi, I was banded 04th August 2015, lost 15 pounds on preop diet, high Protein (mainly chicken) and low carbs (not liquid) and have been on liquid diet for 10 days now post op. I have not lost another pound since. I haven't gained any either though :-). I don't think I am getting enough calories to lose weight (managing to consume about 500 - 800 per day) - I am looking forward to getting back to healthy eating. I am 5ft1, 232 pounds. Would love to hear how you get on. I am worried that if I continue to not be able to eat I will get stuck. thanks K xxx
meggs353 118 Posted August 14, 2015 I gained weight after I started eating solid food again after surgery. It took a few months for me to get to a good fill level, and start losing again (I went for small gains, to stable weight, to losing weight). Good luck! hmj2015 13 Posted August 14, 2015 @@KerryS - your experiences sound like mine. I am starting mushy foods on Sunday (my surgery was last Thursday). I cannot wait for that (eggs, cottage cheese - who knew those would sound so good??). But I am thinking I will gain some back, too. I am currently down 17 lbs. KerryS 5 Posted August 15, 2015 I am trying to not think about weight until I am healed and feeling better - it's hard to try and find a balance on this diet and I don't think it's good for me with so few healthy options so I am just thinking of this as recovery for now xxx
