I have read on the boards before that some people experience nose dripping while eating. This happens to me. Even worse the minute I see food my nose runs. It is almost like a Pavlov dog effect.

I was wondering how many of you have this?

I was also wondering if any one know the biological reason for this happening. Does it have any to do with our saliva glands? Has anyone ask their doctor about it.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't heard of that one. Sounds pretty annoying. I hope it clears up for you soon!

It has to do with the vagus nerve. It runs along the stomach (and elsewhere in the body) and controls a lot of involuntary functions like sneezing, nose running, and hiccups. It typically gets injured/mashed/bruised during surgery and can lead to lots of ~interesting~ results for several months after.

I can't stop sneezing, sometimes 5 or 6 bouts a day. Nice to know the reason for it @Bufflehead :)

Nope, didn't have a drippy nose.

And for a minute there, I thought this thread was about incontinence. ;)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
