TOMORROW! EXCITED AND SCARED

Recommended Posts

My big day is tomorrow and I am excited, scared, nervous, and can't stop thinking and praying that everything goes well for me. I am looking forward to having another tool to help in my weight loss journey that I have been on all my life. The only worry I continue to have is the possibility of complications. My BMI is not too bad which my advocate tells me is a plus, but I can't seem to get these thoughts out of my head. Any thoughts or ideas to calm my nerves?

Congrats Paula, my surgery is this Thursday and I'm right there with you. My surgery was put off for a month due to a bad reaction to the pre-op diet with the meds I was on. Fortunately that all got straightened out and now I'm all systems go.

I know I've done everything 100% on my end to prepare and comply with all the pre-op hoops we have to jump through. That and trust in my surgeon give me some confidence but I know the anxiousness you feel.

Hang in there and I hope all goes well!

Hey Paula,

Congrats on your big day tomorrow! You have to just really try and focus on the trust you have in the medical team you have chosen. You picked them because you felt comfortable with them and know they have preformed many many successful procedures before yours. Also, it might calm your nerves to know that most complications would be unlikely, and usually minor but you would know about almost anything that would be amiss before ever leaving the hospital. While I HIGHLY doubt anything will go wrong, at least you know if anything did, you'll still be admitted and right near all necessary medical help! Also, you can ask for a nice shot of sedative as soon as they have you prepped for the OR. I always ask, it just puts you at ease and lets you go under with no worries! I know your worried but, you have made (I'm sure) an informed decision for your life and all the waiting is really the worst part. Nothing we fear ever ends up being as bad as what we imagine. In no time you'll be all done and on your way home. Good luck to you, I wish you all the best!

Thank you both for the kind words. I know that the worry is normally worse than the actual outcome...just wish I didn't have so much worry on my mind. My team is great and I know they have had very few complications and I am having the RNY because it has been around so long. You are right...I have spent a long time getting ready for tomorrow...even lost 15 pounds on my pre-op diet. Thank you again...I am feeling a little calmer.

I know this may be a silly thing to say so late in the game but, maybe your office might consider calling you in a few Xanex to your pharmacy? No need to be so full of worry if your doctor may be on board for that. I was allowed to take mine the day before and morning of too. Give them a call and check that out.

Drink some herbal tea, listen to some beautiful and relaxing music, and day dream about the great things that are headed your way, including a healthy new life. You've got this. :)

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
