naturegirl 320 Posted August 11, 2015 I'm three weeks post op and am starting to think about what I will be able to have down the road for Breakfast. I'm not a big cream of wheat fan, and was wondering what your go to breakfasts are?

Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 11, 2015 I always tried to keep my breakfast low carb and high Protein, like the rest of my meals. Just because it's breakfast doesn't mean I need to eat a bunch of crappy carb-laden food. Now that I'm free to eat raw veggies I usually make a salad with about 3 ounces of steak and one ounce of raw baby spinach leaves. It is a great breakfast! Back when I was on soft foods I often had something like a poached egg over a piece of turkey sausage or slice of light spam; or Greek yogurt or cottage cheese with a spoonful of Peanut Butter or almond butter stirred in. No grains!

JamieLogical 8,710 Posted August 11, 2015 When I have time to eat a "real" breakfast, I do one scrambled egg with Mexican shredded cheese blend and a little taco sauce on top. Sometimes I'll even squeeze in a link or two of frozen Banquet Turkey Breakfast Sausage. Usually my breakfast is at work though and I just have a Quest Protein bar. JamieLogical 8,710 Posted August 12, 2015 Keep it simple , egg whites and 1 slice of whole wheat toasted. I couldn't/wouldn't do bread/toast every day. I do have it from time to time now that I'm 11 months out, but I worry about that many carbs every single day.

JamieLogical 8,710 Posted August 12, 2015 Is oatmeal ok? Only if you are adding Protein. I was instructed to NEVER EVER eat carb-only meals or Snacks. I could have some carbs with my Protein, but never carbs by themselves. Remember, protein is priority number one for the rest of your life.
