How long out of work?

Recommended Posts

The doctor said he wants me out of work 4-6 weeks after surgery. That is a long time to be out of work. I don't think my job would let me be out of work that long. I have an office job so I work 9-5 at a desk so I am hoping I can get back to work after 2 weeks. What do you guys think? Anybody went back to work that early? Would it be ok? Thanks!

My Dr also suggests up to 6weeks. But I would think it depends on the job you have and how well you are recovering. I personally will take the full 6 weeks using my STD. (Short term disability)

I was out 4 days, but I have desk job and everything went textbook. If I didn't have other vacations planned within month would have taken longer

I had a long answer typed and then I somehow deleted it. Dang it!

I was out 2 1/2 weeks and have a desk job but really wish I had taken longer. Remember this is not about whether you can physically do the job but more about getting used your new lifestyle. My first week back was brutal and I ended up having to take off mid-week and try again. Week 3 and 4 were just really tough for me. They may not be forever (though it seems Week 3 seems to be a pretty consistently tough week). If I could do it over, i would take 4 weeks. Now I was working from home within a few days of surgery but even then I wish I had taken that first week completely off.

I had my surgery on 7-1-15 and today was my 1st day back to work. I had some issues with Fluid intake and landed in the hospital a few times for ivs and stuff though. That definitely sucked, but the extra time off helped me adjust to the eating and drinking schedule.

Physically, I felt good enough to go back after two weeks but was glad I took three weeks off. Even after three weeks, I still got pretty tired in the afternoon (I have a desk job as well).

I was back after a week and a half. Would have liked two full. I do have a more flex workplace so some days I left early if I was tired/sore

Hi there, I was off for 4 weeks but could have used another week or two. I had my drain in for an extra week and was really sore after the removal. I would suggest the 4 weeks at least. I was still pretty tired.

I consider myself very lucky. My recovery went really well. I have an office job. Two weeks was plenty for me.

Some people need longer. It really depends on how each person heals and recovers from a major surgery.

I was out of work for 3 days total. Had surgery on a Friday and returned back to work on Wednesday. Zero complications for me.

I have 2 jobs, one full-time job and one part-time job. They are both desk jobs. I went back after two weeks. I wasn't in pain or having complications. I was actually ready to go back earlier but my doctor wouldn't let me go back until 2 weeks.

This is my first week back after two weeks off. I am a little tired and wouldntnt have minded having a little time off while transitioning to mushy foods. Got rediculous painful hiccups at work while trying to eat first time food.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
