One of the rewards I looking forward to is the ability to get a massage. Once I feel confident I can get up on a table I am going to schedule my first massage in years. I want to eventually be able to get regular massages. I THINK I might be about 30 pounds from scheduling one.

Here is a good article about the benefits of massage.

Does anyone get a regular massage or plan to get one post-WLS?

YES! I love massage. We actually have a massage school about 45 minutes from where I live and the students do $33 one hour massages. I've never had a bad massage there.

I've gone before surgery and always felt like they were pushing my fat around on my back. Now I feel more confident, especially with my collarbones on full display. ????

I have always enjoyed massage but would lay there thinking they must be grossed out and couldn't relax. Plus I couldn't fit my arms on the table next to my giant thighs! I can't wait to enjoy one but now I am worried about the lose skin. Hmmm. Suppose it depends on how desperate I get. I have a knot in my neck that has been there 2 weeks, so I am getting pretty desperate....

@@Inner Surfer Girl - I am about to add this to my goal / reward list. I have always wanted one but didn't get one for the same reasons.

Oh yes! Was one of my rewards at the 50 pound mark. I love a good deep tissue massage!

I think massages are one of the best gifts you can give yourself. I feel great when I'm there and even better after. Always wondering why I don't do it more.

And as I sit here, not having had one in a while, I am pondering why am I not finding a way to fit myself in?

Still working on me. Big sigh....

I loves massages and have usually had a good experience. With one exception. The massage therapist was young and very talkative. The only thing she seemed to be able to talk about was fat. Even if I was the largest person she had ever worked on I thought she just could have done a better job showing some professionalism.

It hasn't discouraged me from getting other massages but it certainly stuck with me.

Professionals know to not talk at all. Yes...I love massages and I know what you are going through. I used to have to tuck my hands under my thighs so as not to have my hands and arms fall of the sides of the table. Now I fit fine and have all the room in the world. As far as the loose skin, forget about it. The massueuse has seen it all and will know you are a WLS person. So what...just enjoy it.

I am not self-conscious, I just am concerned right now with getting on and off the table safely. I have a hard enough time getting in and out of bed!

I had a massage today and it was great!

Good thing I'm not shy because I did need help getting on and off the table but it was worth it.

It may be time for me to start thinking about scheduling another one. There are a few places to get one in town so I want to try all of them until I settle into a routine.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
