Looking for preop friends :)

Yes! It can't come soon enough, I'm excited, nervous, scared.. soo many emotions. I got my approval and cried throughout the day, I knew I would cry if I was denied, never expected to cry for an approval. Do you have a 2 week pre op liquid diet?

@@RKS1983WI I can totally relate! I have a mix of emotions ever since getting my surgery date. I was one of the very fortunate ones that didn't have a diet to follow for an extended period of time. So I had my informational session, consult with the surgeon and got my surgery date and all other appointment dates in the matter of 4 days. I didn't know what to expect, but I certainly didn't expect that! So since then I have been predominently excited but I do randomly burst into tears over concerns, or over the idea of just how different things will be. Overall though I am sooo excited and can hardly wait. I don't have a w week preop diet, but I do need to lose another 10-15lbs before surgery so I am basically sticking to a liquid diet for the most part. My surgeon only requires a 3 day preop diet, but I figured I would do it for a week.

Yayy!! :) I have been following a very low carb diet and I will say I was not at all prepared for how grumpy this would make me. I don't know if it's tge lower carbs, hormone changes or what but I do know I have 0 patience and want to smack people a majority of my days.. LOL

Wow 3 weeks! Is it pretty strict? I can have 4-5 shakes a day 2 cups of broth 1/2 cup Tomato juice, SF Jello and SF popsicles, lots of Water and drinks like crystal light, v8 splash, fruit 2o etc. We can do this!!!

That should definitely help having fish etc. Being 3 wks. Good luck! I have found my ninja blender to be my best friend with the shakes, I feel more satisfied with them blended with ice, like I'm getting something a bit more substantial lol, I'm hoping that helps on my all liquid!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
