Hi Guys - I've heard a couple of females discussing this, and wanted to see if any guys experienced this too: going down a shoe size once the weight starts coming off.

I totally get going from wide-width to regular, but do guys experience a length shortening too? Seems weird. I'm currently a size 14 and wouldn't mind going to a 13 (14's are hard to find in regular stores).

Thoughts?

I lost a half size after WLS. It took about 6 months to get there. I was a 10 1/2 in high school, but when I put on the weight, my feet would swell - on and off - and I had to buy size 11's.

I didn't notice any reduction in shoe size or shoe width after surgery. But others including males in our bariatric surgery support group meetings did.

I have gone down a shoe size.

At work I kicked my shoe across the room, realized it was time to go shoe shopping. It happens. I went from an 11 down to a ten!

Within a couple of weeks of surgery, the edema in my legs, ankles and feet was gone, and I dropped an entire shoe size in length and width...

Currently wearing 14 wides.......would be nice to go to a 13 regular.

Sure would be easier to find them.

I'm about 6 months and 120+ish (estimated) pounds post surgery and have definitely changed shoe size...

My collection of 37 pairs of Converse All-Stars (Chucks) now ranges from size 13 down to size 11...

I still wear the size 13's but they're a little uncomfortable...

I'll not let that stop me tho...

Chicks dig the interesting shoe type of ****...

Don't they???

I was wondering about this too. Very interesting. I'll make a little extra room in my new clothes budget for new kicks.

I think I've changed too. I was a 13 1/2 before. Need to probably go with a 12 1/2 now. I have some 13-14 boots though that I still wear. Love my boots too much to part with em!!

Thankfully I'm not the only one. I have a size 14 New Balance EW (Extra-wide) and I can't seem to tie them tight enough. I think I may have to try a 13 EW and see how they feel.

Honestly, I knew boxers, shorts, shirts and stuff would fall in sizes, I never gave my feet that consideration.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
