Gummi Vitamins

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and I'm having issues with crushing my Vitamins and chasing them with Water or even putting them in applesauce. I just can't do the taste. Anyone using Gummi vitamins and if so are they working for you and if so what brand has worked the best. Thanks in advance.

I was allowed to swallow pills at 7 days post-op. How long have you been instructed to keep crushing your pills?

Not 100% sure but I think the reason that gummy vitamins are not recommended is because they are mostly children's Vitamins so they don't have the required amounts of vitamins and minerals in them. But there are a few adult Gummy vitamins, one I know of is Natures Way, not sure if it's an Australian brand though.

Most gummy vitamins adult or children lack a lot minerals. I used adult Centrum chewables or two childrens complete chewables.

JamieLogical I've been instructed to crush them indefinitely if I opt not to do the chewables. I've tried a sample my NUT gave and couldn't get them down.

Thanks for the info I will look for some adult chewables that you all have suggested.

What?!?! That seems completely crazy for a sleeve patient. I've never heard of such a thing. Not that I'd advise you to go against your surgeon's plan, that just seems incredibly extreme.

Did your NUT tell you to take 4? Because a regular dose is just one. I take 2 Flintstones a day. If you compare the nutritional info of two Flintstones to other Multivitamins they're very similar. Four is probably too many. You might want to double check just to make sure you're not overdoing it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
