Weird ya? Though I can only do bites of yogurt b4 I fill up.. So does it mean we can get in more pure liquid at a go? Also I've had these headaches that won't go.. Could I be detoxing?.... And I'm 4 days out 10lbs down! Amazing! Thanks guys!
jane13 2,256 Posted August 10, 2015 @@Aga - good morning. Detoxing - yes, did you have a pre-op diet? a lot of us struggled through that before surgery. Being that you hopefully on a post-op diet as well the liquids should be a little easier to get in. what kind of yogurt are you eating? hydrate (sip) as often as possible and watch carbs. make smart food choices and chew, chew, chew. ShrinkingPeach 1,291 Posted August 10, 2015 Welcome and congrats! Yes you can def drink more ounces than you can consume yogurt. The Water is thinner and goes right through. Yogurt stick with you for a few minutes. You have read all the advice I am sure so go forth and lose poundage!! Good luck!
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted August 10, 2015 If you didn't have a pre-op diet, then the headaches are probably you entering ketosis, due to lack of carbs. Most of us go through that when we do our high protein/low carb pre-op diet. It's perfectly normal for you to be able to drink much more than you can eat. If you do a search for barium swallow tests, you can probably find a video or two of someone doing their post-sleeve barium swallow test and you can see that liquids just flow straight through the stomach in a matter of seconds. food will sit in there and fill you up. Aga 0 Posted August 10, 2015 Has anyone tried the New Whey drinks with 42g of protein... Seems quite tempting and too good to be true...
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted August 10, 2015 Has anyone tried the new whey drinks with 42g of Protein... Seems quite tempting and too good to be true... The issue is that your body can't actually process that much Protein all at once, so you may do more harm than good trying to intake that much. It is very taxing your your kidneys. Plus, from the little research I did into them, the TYPE of protein is not very high quality. When you are supplementing protein (not getting directly from meat/dairy) you want to be looking specifically for whey isolate. Other forms of protein are not as well-absorbed and utilized by your body.
Aga 0 Posted August 10, 2015 Thanks JamieLogical! Thought it seemed to good to be true... No short cuts!
krista132 213 Posted August 18, 2015 Exciting for you to be starting out! Sounds like you have it all under control. Just take one day at a time. Focus on the foods you are eating (lean meats, Proteins, etc.), drink your Protein shakes and once you feel up to it start walking around and excersizing. My first triumphant moment was when I had to go through my closet and donate about 75% of my closet because nothing fit anymore. Now, I am enjoying shopping (just buying a few things here and there in between). Its such an amazing and positive journey. Enjoy it!
