Fell short of goal and want to get closer!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was sleeved 3/24/11 and lost 60 pounds from the start of my journey. I fell short by about 30 pounds and would love to start towards making it. It just seems that nothing is working right now......including my brain! I could care less about EATING Protein but don't have a problem drinking it (shakes, etc). I am setting a new goal of 30 pounds by March 2016. Need some help! My journey started at 251. Got as low at 192, but now steady at 203. Would love to get myself to at least 170.

How can I jumpstart the second leg of my journey?

Some people have mentioned the 5:2 program is a great way to restart weight loss when you've gained, a few vets have mentioned this.

I don't know anything about it but you can google it or maybe search on this site to see if it's a viable option for you.

Good luck!

First thing I would focus on is ... are you really READY to lose weight again?

It's always very difficult (for me) to commit to weight loss if my head isn't in the game.

Once you are committed to weight loss it's not complicated or mysterious. You know what to do:

Eat lots of Protein

Eat 3 meals a day

Eat Protein first.

Drink 8 glasses of Water daily

Minimize starchy, highly processed carbs.

Track what you eat / drink (I can't lose weight if I don't do this)

Exercise more and regularly (including walking / cardio)

Eat slowly, chew well

Don't drink with meals

Don't graze

Remove from your house crap food you shouldn't be eating.

Put a weight ticker up here and be accountable for your results

If you have emotional triggers consider therapy / counseling and build some healthier responses

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
