Stalled progress.

Recommended Posts

I am about 3 months post op revision from band to sleeve, male 6"1 and have dropped from 226 to 189.. All has been going fine and well but feel like i have reached a stall in weight reduction. Feel like im getting more hungrier and im craving sweets alot which i thought it would be a thing i would not have to deal with after getting sleeve. Been only eating one solid meal a day but i have Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch because food seems to get sorta stuck and i get a nausea feeling when i eat certain solids. Dont know if this is just a phase im going thru or is it something of a huge concern for me. Would like to hear opinions, comments or suggestions from you all.

189 at 6feet tall...that's pretty good. How much more do you want to lose?

As for the food sticking thing its is probably from not chewing enough or eating too quickly. Try smaller bites and chew well. The cravings are more in your head than your stomach. That will go away in time.

I'm at 3 months also. I'm down 52lbs. I'm going thru a stall right now also that's because I'm eating more. It seems that my stomach has heeled it takes more to get me full now. We just have to keep bat it. I just started at the gym this week

I am 3 mos out & I have lost 77lbs so far, both pre & post-op. I have hit a few stalls and this is what I learned: the carbs/calories didn't matter, it was my Water & prorein intake and my exercise. I needed to boost my fluids & make sure I hit a minimum of 60g of Protein. I also had to mix up my exercise. I walk a minimum of 3 miles/day but my body was getting used to this. So, off to the gym for the bike or a hit a hiking trail for a different kind of walking. These combined would break the stall & I saw a difference in a day or two.

I am in another stall now ... 1 week at same weight. So I have started to push the fluids & adding more Protein. Now off to hit the hiking trails for a bit to get my body moving!

2.5 months post surgery and down 45 pounds. I have never had a sweet tooth but I've absolutely craved sugar the last 2-3 weeks. It's weird because candy wasn't never really my thing before but it is now. Trying to get control of that and hitting the gym to help break my recent stall. I've only stalled once before in week 2 so I reckon I can't complain.

Also, my attitude has been terrible. Dr. said that will change maybe 12 weeks out or so. The wife says that can't happen soon enough...

I am three months out too. I have days where I can stay away from sweets but still want them and others I just cave!!! Why the sweets! I used to like sweets but never this much! What is this about? Confused as you are! Not too frustrated yet but am hoping this sweet tooth will ease up!

For all of you complaining about the sweet tooth here's a little advice.....

STOP EATING SUGAR AND WHITE CARBS.

Sugar is weird. The more you eat, the more you crave. It's a vicious cycle. You've got to jump off the never ending merry go round and cut out the sugar and carbs that turn into sugar. It's a detox of sorts. Once you can white knuckle through the detox portion, the cravings will stop for the most part.

When you're eating nothing but clean, non processed real food, the cravings become almost non existent. If you need something sweet, have a piece of lower sugar fruit or a square of real dark chocolate.

It's just so much easier for me to do it that way as opposed to constantly fighting the cravings and then just going down the rabbit hole of gobbling sweets on a daily basis.

Yes Babbs I do find that to be true when I can stay away from it for days. My brain likes to play games with me sometimes and it wins once in a while. Weak moments I guess. ????

Stalls happen. You might have to tweak your calorie intake.. look at your exercise regime.. look at the foods you are eating.. check your Vitamin intake.. but they happen. If you are eating 700 calories a day, you'll lose eventually.. you probably need to increase calories to 800-1000.. You should eating 3 solid meals by now, and maybe 1-2 Protein Drinks. Check your Protein level, are you close to 100 grams a day? Eat protein, not sugar.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
