Texas sleeve buddies

Recommended Posts

Looking for sleeve buddies in Texas. I am currently beginning my wls journey and do not have a date scheduled yet, hoping for October if all goes well. I am 32 years old and so ready to get my health back on track! I am located in San Antonio and am really going to need support through this from someone who knows what it's like. Can't wait!!

I live in San Antonio too. I had my surgery on July 8. It has been a rough start for me but I'm down 32 lbs. Since the surgery so it's been worth it.

Congratulations! Who was your surgeon? I am still in my consultation/approval stage so I am hoping my visit on the 20th will give me an idea of where I am with surgery. I have BCBS and so far everything I have ready and been told says it is a pretty smooth approval process. My BMI is 41. I am going to dr Peterson with Santa Rosa weight loss center. I also work for Santa Rosa. I am hoping to be sleeved by the middle of October!!

Hello! Dallas, TX sleevie here! I had my surgery on 4/28/15 and am currently down 61 lbs. Surgery went fine, all the pain was worth it. Lol I wish you luck with your journey and I will be looking forward to your updates! =))

My surgeon was Dr. Alvarez at the Texas center for medical and surgical weight loss. They are the best there! Be prepared because once you get approved the process moves so quickly!

I wasn't supposed to have surgery till mid august- early September but once they got the approval it only took 2 weeks to have the surgery. I hope all goes well for you!

Hi guys!

Gosh I hope that everything goes smoothly and quickly. I am such an impatient person so I am really trying to calm down and take it a day at a time. It helps to have a support group like this to turn to!

I am in the dfw area. Had my surgery September 25, 2014. Went back to work 3 days later and haven't looked back. Best decision of my life and will be for you as well. Good luck to you.

Wow 3 days! That's great. Hopefully I will do as well also. I work in an office so I should be able to return to work fairly quickly. I think I will allow myself a week just to be sure I get the hang of my new eating lifestyle.

Yes three days. Crazy to think. The way I seen it was this way, "I spent the last two years abusing my body with food, the lack of exercise etc. I was so pay so there was no way I was sitting back and continuing the same pattern. Told my husband the day after surgery I was getting moving. And I did just that. I was outpatient. Had surgery at 7 am and released that evening at 5 pm. The next day I walked almost a mile to help relieve the gas pressure. Next day did the same. And have continued since.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
