I so excited ! I just can not hide it !

Doing my 3 months required my insurance.

I can not gain any weight during this time.

The goal is to lose 1 pound a month. THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE.

Also they said I wont be able to drink soda anymore !

This is a huge life change for me. But I'm ready for it !

anyone else lurking doing their required months by insurance ?

Who will be starting their pre-op diet in december ?

Lets be friends.

I'm hoping to start my journey soon. I attended the initial WLS seminar this past Tuesday and handed in all of my paperwork. I now have to make an appointment with the nurse practitioner which I'll be calling tomorrow to schedule. I too have to do a 3 month program for insurance so I'm hoping to get it started soon.

I've been reading so much online I'm becoming obsessed and just want to get started all ready!

I'm glad to have found this site, I've learned so much!!

Looking forward to meeting new people that understand what I'm going through :)

Are you still starting your preop diet in December? I just started this whole process. Like you I have to give up soda and Halloween candy was hard. I am still going through some of the tests before seeing the Nutritionist in December. If you would like a friend on this journey, I would love to be one. Carolyn

Hi all I started my journey last month. My insurance requires 6 months but I have started the pre-op testing and have seen the nutritionist. I'm 5'2 and 234 lbs. Starting weight 242.

I have long journey ahead but I'm excited too and happy to start my new healthy life.

Hi Careysgirl. It looks like we are doing this about the same time. I have my last np appointment on the 15th. I still have the 2 nutrition appointments, the EGD and cardio to go. The doctor I go to doesn't have a long preop diet, so I am looking forward to getting this going. Let me know how you are doing. Carolyn

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
