Update from revision surgery 6/23

Recommended Posts

Very encouraged as I have lost 33 pounds to date and already weigh less than I ever did with the band.

Do not like anything with sugar except G2 Gatorade. Took a drink of Coke and it was no good, my favorite ice cream and don't have any interest in.

Meanwhile I am sleeping better - not sweating as much and feel good. A new wardrobe is headed my way soon.

264.8 on June 25th and 231.6 on August 9th.

Congratulations - that's great! I can't stand the taste of ice cream any longer either and can totally ignore sweets now.

Keep up the good work!

I've had my band slip two times so I've decided for a sleeve. I had my surgery just 4 days ago. I'm curious as how it's possible that you no longer like ice cream and sweets. I really like my ice cream. I have no intention of eating lots of ice cream, but I wonder if this change is going to happen to me as well?

Also, I wouldn't like to tell all the people at the dinner table why I eat so little. What did you recommend that I should say? I'm thinking of business lunches or dinner with a big group of friends. I don't necessarily want everyone to know that I'm eating little because of a sleeve surgery.

Thanks for the feedback.

I miss that ice cream, too, but can't afford the calories. My NUT still wants me to have two servings of dairy every day, so what I do is drink a glass of milk with vanilla and sweetener in it. Bedtime is when I could eat a pint of ice cream by myself, so I drink the vanilla milk as my bedtime snack.< /p>

Also, as soon as I lost that first thirty pounds, I began to sleep much better.

Honestly? I find people don't much notice if you don't eat much. Eat what you can and push the rest around on your plate. Or, say you had a later Breakfast b

Down from 264.8 to 223- weight loss is slowing to about 7 or 8 pounds a month. People definitely notice how much I do not eat. I usually say I just ate something before the meal. Went to a rodeo and had BBQ Saturday and could literally eat only about 4-5 bites and was full.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
