cindyw41 761 Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) I'm not sure if these health stores are everywhere or just local but... At these shops you can get flavored Protein shakes. (chocolate butterfinger is one of my favorites)They are Protein drinks mixed with sugar free pudding mixes, s/f syrups, Peanut Butter and butterscotch chips (this recipe) there are tons of ones to choose from. Frankly it makes the Protein Shakes bearable and down right yummy. I guess my question is would these type of shakes work on the liquid phase or does it have to be straight Protein and Water mixed? Most shakes are 200 cal, 12 grams of protein *spark people has this at 183 cal 19.3 grams protein Edited August 9, 2015 by cindyw41
ShrinkingPeach 1,291 Posted August 9, 2015 As long as you watch the sugar amounts along with Protein content, any shake is fine. Know that the more you add to the shake the thicker it becomes making it more difficult initially to drink any volume. The thickness of some shakes made it hard for me to sip when I was on liquids. I often use add-ins to make my Protein Shakes better now!
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted August 9, 2015 "Spending" 200 calories to get 12 grams of Protein is not a good bargain IMO. I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole. With respect to Protein Shake ingredients, every surgeon's office has their own rules for both pre-op and post-op nutrition. You really should get in touch with yours and check to see what they want you to do.
