Herbalife protein shakes..

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if these health stores are everywhere or just local but... At these shops you can get flavored Protein shakes. (chocolate butterfinger is one of my favorites)They are Protein drinks mixed with sugar free pudding mixes, s/f syrups, Peanut Butter and butterscotch chips (this recipe) there are tons of ones to choose from. Frankly it makes the Protein Shakes bearable and down right yummy. I guess my question is would these type of shakes work on the liquid phase or does it have to be straight Protein and Water mixed?

Most shakes are 200 cal, 12 grams of protein

*spark people has this at 183 cal 19.3 grams protein

As long as you watch the sugar amounts along with Protein content, any shake is fine. Know that the more you add to the shake the thicker it becomes making it more difficult initially to drink any volume. The thickness of some shakes made it hard for me to sip when I was on liquids.

I often use add-ins to make my Protein Shakes better now!

"Spending" 200 calories to get 12 grams of Protein is not a good bargain IMO. I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.

With respect to Protein Shake ingredients, every surgeon's office has their own rules for both pre-op and post-op nutrition. You really should get in touch with yours and check to see what they want you to do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
