Quany 15 Posted August 11, 2015 I'm doing really well! I'm patiently waiting for Wednesday which is my 2 week mark. I'm ready to eat some fish and eggs! I'm tired of only fluids.
AlphaB 28 Posted August 12, 2015 Today is my 5th day post op and I feel significantly better. I still have gas and I feel like I am swallowing air. However other than that I am doing great. I've already lost 10 lbs! And I've been walking every day. Today I went to the park and walked 20 minutes at a good pace. I'm still having trouble drinking the Protein and really getting enough food in cause I get full with just a couple of sips. I have my follow up appointment tomorrow
AlphaB 28 Posted August 13, 2015 Today Is my 6th day post op. And I guess the first day that the scale hasn't shown a pound less. Which kinda sucks but I knew it couldn't be THAT quick forever. Anyway the pain is mostly gone. And today Is my check up with the doctor. Imma bombard him with questions. Yesterday was actually a pretty good day cause one of my roommates got home and we walked to this event on campus. So that was almost 2 miles more of walking I did on top of my 20 min walks. Then when my other roommates got home we all sat in the living room and talked and joked around. That really helped my mood. Finally my brother, whom initially I didn't want to tell about the surgery but ended up finding out thru my parents and their inability to lie, called me and he started telling me that I should have told him that he would never had judged me about me getting the surgery. I told him it wasn't personal, nobody other than my parents (who are paying for it) knew. He said he understood why and that I deserve it (I am the only one in my family who is always working out yet has the hardest time losing supposed to be because of policystic ovary) and he started asking me about it and how I felt and the process and what I could eat. And honestly, it felt great. Letting everything out of my chest and finally talking to someone about it. I guess the lesson is that you can find support in the most unexpected of places (my brother flipped when I got a small tattoo and flipped yet again when I got a small nose piercing) yet it's always welcome. cslove 141 Posted August 14, 2015 I am enjoying your journey. My sleeve date is 8/31/15.
AlphaB 28 Posted August 14, 2015 Thank you! Today I didn't drop any more pounds but I tried the "skinny dress" I bought right before surgery. I made it so that it would fit me. Today the zipper closed all the way! It's still a little tight on my back but it's getting there.
Quany 15 Posted August 14, 2015 That's awesome! My work pants starting sagging this week! I'm 22 pound lighter is 2 weeks
AlphaB 28 Posted August 14, 2015 Congrats! It's always a great feeling! I'm stuck at 10lbs since Wednesday I have chicken and cheese cravings. And I'm tired of sweet stuff. My doctor told me I could have split pea Soup with meat in it as long as it is very well blended and on the watery side. I'm happy about this. Especially cause cold things still bother me a bit. Gas is almost completely gone. My energy is good. I wish I could go back to boxing already but I know my sutures would split open so I gotta be patient. I asked the doc about Gummy Vitamins and he said not for a couple more weeks. Ugh
AlphaB 28 Posted August 15, 2015 Ok so yesterday was a great day! I went biking and it felt grest. I felt like I didn't have surgery at all. My good mood was back and then bam I got my period. I was craving some Protein and I was sick of the smoothies. So I figured hey....eggs are almost as soft as Jello and if I can have oatmeal why not an egg? So I cooked an egg. And ate it ever so slowly and enjoyed every bit of it. That Is until it really hit my stomach and it started hurting so bad. It gave me cramps and ouch is was just bad all around. That was around 7pm last night. I even went for a walk, however my belly still hurts. So umm...yep. I'll stick to Protein Shakes for the rest of the time. I learned my lesson. Just thought I'd share my experience. However on the bright side I dropped another half a pound!
Quany 15 Posted August 15, 2015 eggs give me heart burn and it just don't sit well with my stomach. I was so excited to eat them lol I tried it twice and got the same feeling. I haven't tried them boiled so that will be my next experience

Mrswrath 19 Posted August 15, 2015 I had my sleeve done on aug 3. They also found I had a hernia and repaired that. I went into this thinking the recovery process would be a piece of cake ( for lack of a better term). Instead it has SUCKED Day 1 surgery day I thought I will go for a walk- they un hooked my right arm from all the Iv's and hooked everything to my left arm - gave me the ok to try and walk. My husband thank god was with me, I stood mentioned I felt dizzy and boom - was out cold on the floor for 20 mins- nurses came running - my blood pressure dropped 60/40 and stayed that low for the next 20 hrs. I ended up w blood transfusions and so many " juices up Iv's" that my arms legs feet and stomach were swollen beyond belief. Because the could not get my labs in range I had to stay an extra night. I finally went home tired and wondering WTH was I thinking!!! The giant bruise on me and just trying to walk up a flight of stairs leaves me panting!!! Previous to surgery I worked out 14 hrs a wk- so this came as a shock!!! I have a constant low grade fever- so that's a joy to! I can not stomach the Vitamins - they make me vomit - so dr said just do antacid for now. So I make it to week 1 post op go see surgeon - I am retaining fluids still - like 25 freakin lbs of fluids!!!!!!!!!! My dr did not seem concerned, I on the other hand want to take a fork to my eye! And bonus, my labs are better but not great so I need more lab wrk????????. I get the ok to start with Protein shakes - except they make me want to puke - we have bought every kind around - blah - I use to love the body fortress choc now it's like the smell and texture of the shakes make me gag !! I am living on Water and maybe 4 oz of broth and 4 oz diet cranberry - Oy vay - ok that's my intro and my vent - each day will get better, just hard to see the Forrest through the trees right now! AlphaB 28 Posted August 15, 2015 Aw I'm sorry to hear that @Mrswrath. I can't imagine being in the hospital any longer than I was already there for or being stuck with just liquids for so long. . I'm young and active too and without complications it still sucked so I can't imagine what you must be going thru. But hey maybe you lose weight even quicker once the retained fluids are gone seeing that you are merely drinking juice
AlphaB 28 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) Okay so I'm on day 10 and everything is going great. Most of the pain is gone. And I have been steadily losing! I an now 11.5 lbs lighter. I love it! I can even feel my clothes fitting better. My belly Is starting to look flat-ish. I can't wait to lose more! Anyway I started biking to the park and I might be working out a little too hard that way. But it feels great. I noticed that the days I go to the park and bike about 2 or more miles I get more hungry cause I burn more calories. So it's a give/take. I'm used to working out cause it makes me feel great. It's like my drug, puts me in a great mood and releases all the good hormones. But....I gotta remind myself "you just had major surgery! Calm down" . My incisions, which I was worried about, seem to be healing pretty well. I don't think I will have scarring or anything noticeable once they close up and the bruises around them heal. Pooping! Is another subject. I seem to be pooping every other day or so. Now forget I talked about pooping right before talking about girly stuff And on the girly side...It might just be a confidence boost, but I'm getting a little more attention from the guys. A British boy kissed me and said "you are gorgeous," in the sexiest British accent and a guy at the film photography asked me for my number "you and me Foosball at X bar". So yes, do I recommend surgery? Hell yes. Edited August 17, 2015 by AlphaB
