englandgirlsleever 11 Posted August 9, 2015 I need some reassurance, I had surgery on the 7th and due to leave hospital today, although throughout the night my arms have felt so numb, heavy, swollen and also on fire! Has anyone else felt like this? I told the nurse looking after me yet she just said I'm strange and my arms shouldn't feel like it, anyone give me some advice? NaomiAus 104 Posted August 9, 2015 Talk to your surgeon, do not leave the hospital before you do, it may be nothing but it may be something serious
englandgirlsleever 11 Posted August 9, 2015 They believe it's just allergies, but I don't have any known allergies and how can it be on both arms, they don't feel as weak now but still are on fire! Everyone seems clueless
_Kate_ 2,224 Posted August 9, 2015 My arms felt on fire on day two, however they didn't seem concerned and it stopped after about 5 hours. Have you let the team know?
englandgirlsleever 11 Posted August 9, 2015 Yeah they are all aware but nobody seems concerned either, I've had it for the last 7 hours and still got it

tjstark 74 Posted August 9, 2015 Hope it gets better. The nurse should get in touch with your surgeon, maybe?
englandgirlsleever 11 Posted August 9, 2015 I'm home now and have a follow up appointment in a week with surgeon, my arms still getting hot, but they appear a lot better, may just be my body getting rid of the gases etc. thanks all for your concerns

beanx2 8 Posted August 9, 2015 just my nurse-y opinion, it could definitely be gas it could also be the position they had you lying in during surgery, may have pressed up on a nerve and now you have some residual pain. I agree that it probably isn't serious, good luck!
englandgirlsleever 11 Posted August 9, 2015 Yeah it's gone down a lot now just numb, I'm guessing it is the gas, but when you start googling things you begin to worry, my temp was also high but all controlled now, thanks again
