lynnie77 0 Posted September 10, 2008 awww....can't we all just get abong? I would just like to apologize to everyone on this thread who I upset or insulted! I divorced my husband 3 years ago because of marijuana. He was addicted. His pot was more important than his family and he was always smoking in front of the kids. I told him over and over again that if he HAD to smoke, then I wanted him to go somewhere else where our children were not present. When he refused (because it was his house, too) I had to leave with the kids and go elsewhere. Throughout our marriage, we never seemed to have enough money for bills or other things because all of his money went to buying pot. One day while I was pulling weeds in the yard, I foung 18 marijuana plants growing in a weed patch on the side of our house. That was the last straw, and I filed for divorce the next day. I did not want to lose my children! I am very passionate about this subject and have seen a lot of lives ruined by "just pot"; however, everyone is right. I should not have come into this thread and started problems by throwing judgements around. Maybe I do just need a hit!:scared2: Anyway, I am sorry. Everyone have a great day and the best of luck to everyone on their weight loss!!!
clayverde 2 Posted September 10, 2008 lynnie77, I have to say - that was really adult of you. I mean, being able to swallow your pride and admit you made a mistake is something that many people NEVER learn how to do. And given your history, I can understand how you could blindly lash out at something that has caused you so much pain. My jaw dropped when I read about the plants on the side of the house! So kudos to you for doing the hard thing when you left with your kids and kudos again for doing another hard thing by admitting when you are wrong - even when you didn't really have to!

The best option is to not start. Your ex clearly had issues. I think people were just trying to point out that pot, like alcohol or eating for that matter, can be handled by some and not by others. Just so you know, you are not the only one who has been through that humiliating experience. But as we have all said, not all pot smokers are the same...:w00t:

Lap Band Momma 0 Posted September 11, 2008 Damn, I was just going to ask about what you guys thought drinking a glass of wine after work. That's what I like to do, drink a glass of wine and watch a really good movie with my husband. I was wondering if I could do that with the lap band.
Fanny Adams 7 Posted September 11, 2008 (edited) Damn, I was just going to ask about what you guys thought drinking a glass of wine after work. That's what I like to do, drink a glass of wine and watch a really good movie with my husband. I was wondering if I could do that with the lap band. There's absolutely no physical reason why you couldn't because of the lap band. You need to factor it into your calorie intake for the day, though, as the empty calories in alcohol add up pretty quickly (roughly 135-190 cal per glass). You can get caught in a situation where you have used the restriction the band gives you to keep yourself content on a 1000-1200 cal a day diet, then blow it out the Water with 2-3 glasses of sweet wine. My advice would be - use it sparingly, but don't cut it out altogether and don't forget to count the calories! PS: You may find that your tolerance for alcohol drops significantly. I know mine did! I used to be able to drink half a bottle of scotch easily and on a "heavy" night, could down the whole thing. These days 2 scotches gives me a really strong buzz and I don't dare go beyond 3 in case it makes me sick. I think it is because I don't have that "cushion" of food in my stomach to help slow the alcohol absorbtion rate - like drinking on an empty stomach all the time. deadhead49 0 Posted September 25, 2008 Just came back to Las Vegas from San Clemente Ca. Had a 70th b-day party for my husband. I was down to 175 from 216 so I was looking good. Everyone had a great time and now back to the real world of lap band. I did indulge in a strawberry marqurita or two.

lbradley 0 Posted September 26, 2008 I smoke when I can, but have had problems with munchies. Other than that, it is totally great... eases pain and helps with nausea. If I could just get the munchies under control...
misskitty84 0 Posted September 26, 2008 Hello fellow tokers! I was just banded last Wednesday. I'm not currently smoking right now because I'm trying to get a job but once that's done... :tongue2: However a lot of my weight gain throughout my life can probably be attributed to the munchies so if I find that is a problem post-banding I will not be partaking (at least not as frequently).
