flstfgirl 0 Posted June 5, 2008 I'm soooo glad this thread was created! I've thought about it several times because smoking weed is something I do enjoy. I've been banded since April, have been smoking up to and since my surgery with no problems. It does give you the munchies, but I'm still eating much less than I used to and I am losing weight. I feel I'm responsible with it...don't let it interfere with work, family etc. And I have no intention of letting it interfere with my weight loss either. I smoked pot (and did alot of other mind altering drugs) as a teenager, then in my twenties I did the clean and sober thing for 11 years. I decided to start smoking again (only smoking) about 15 years ago. I truely enjoy it. I've had weight problems all my life including the 11 yrs I wasn't smoking, so I don't think pot contributed a whole lot to that. I'm glad to know I'm not alone tho' - thanks for all who shared on this thread!

Erv 0 Posted June 11, 2008 This thread has made me laff my hiney off. I'm 3 days postop and just took my nighttime dose of lortab elixir. Too funny! EVERYONE uses some chemical substance...caffeine, nicotine, sucrose, THC, narcs, to make them feel better. nuff said. No, I no longer partake....the DEA is funny about stuff like that! plormf77 0 Posted June 12, 2008 Thanks for this thread! I found this forum 2 days after I was banded (5/29). I actually had to get my BMI down before I was eligible to have this surgery. Thanks to MJ, I was able to force myself to aerobicly burn off the access weight. I can physically push myself farther when I'm high. Thanks to weed I lost about 50 lbs. in 2 months, before even being banded!!
Jesusislove 26 Posted June 12, 2008 (edited) Hi, one addiction leads to another, if not brought under control. Let's not leave out that it is an illegal drug. There maybe worser drugs, but it is still illegal in the US. I pray none of this is done in front of children. That is my two cents. If I smoke just a little bowl before working out, I am able to work harder than I can sometimes believe. Miraculous!

plormf77 0 Posted June 12, 2008 Hi, one addiction leads to another, if not brought under control. Let's not leave out that it is an illegal drug. There maybe worser drugs, but it is still illegal in the US. I pray none of this is done in front of children. That is my two cents. Addiction is what got me in trouble in the 1st place. Addiction for pizza, lasagna, & cookie dough!! I don't think it's possible to be addicted to marijuana. It doesn't have the same chemical effect on the body that drugs like cocaine, heroin, & tobacco have. Those drugs cause you to become chemically dependent. Marijuana is a recreational herb that you can use from time to time whenever needed. (it's an HERB!) Alcohol is much more dangerous! Drinking is like smashing your sense of balance & decision making skills with a cinder block!!! There are hundreds of thousands of deaths related to this "legal" drug every year compared to zero deaths linked to marijuana. What's really scary is the fact that almost 40,000 folks in the US died last year due to improper use of doctor prescribed drugs. One day I hope medicinal marijuana will be accessible to all 50 states. And no, I doubt anyone is token their herb in front of children. We're not crack-heads. You can smoke weed & still be an active, responsible member of society. You'd be surprised by how people are actually smoking pot in this country these days.
