You didn't have any problems? Do you have any suggestions for me on where to start? I am 3 weeks post of and on pureed foods and slowly starting soft foods.

I had some pretty spicy homemade tortilla Soup broth yesterday (post op day 4) and I was completely okay! I don't know if the liquid vs real food thing makes a difference though

I'm 10 months out and can't tolerate spicy food too well. I stay away. Only thing I have issues with.

At 4 weeks I was released to full foods. I was eating a mixture of taco seasoning, turkey hamburger meat, refried Beans and salsa. I could tolerate almost any level of hotness and brands.... except Taco Bell Taco Sauce. For some unknown reason, Frankensleeve just does not like that stuff. All the other brands, he's okay with. You think maybe it's because Taco Bell Taco Sauce is made in New York City? (Frankensleeve is from the South) :-P

I have always eaten super hot foods and this has not stopped me. I even had wasabi. So just try a little and see how it goes. I really thought I would have a problem with it after weeks of Protein shakes. Oops just saw the 3 weeks post op. I didn't try any til at least a week after solids. Wait a couple of more weeks.

I have been eating spicy foods since I started soft foods. I tried one bite, waited 5 minutes to see what happened, nothing happened and I went all in. The only thing I will say is if you accidentally eat too fast or overeat, you might get heartburn. Idid once, it has not repeated.

Ever since my sleeve, I have craved spicy foods. I started putting chili sauce in my chicken broth at week 2. My doc was ok so long as I tolerated it. It's strange how are taste buds change. I was never one fore much spice in the past but now I swear I could eat Siracha with a spoon!

IMO I would add a small amt and wait and see if you have any adverse reactions. I am assuming you have cleared with both NUT and surgeon? I was told to start small, once I started pureed. I eat a small amount so I definitely want it seasoned.

@@AWD12368 I added a few drops of Sriracha to Soup and broth when I was on full liquids. When I was cleared for purees (four weeks out for my surgeon) I added hot sauce to all kinds of food. No problem whatsoever but I've always had a stomach made of cast Iron. Spicy or rich foods have never bothered me in the slightest.

Yay!! I can not imagine if we didn't get spicy. I'm sure we would of dealt with it, but so nice we don't have to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
