That's a hard one, isn't it??

What helped me was to drink a lot right before eating. A glass or two of Water. Then have the Water removed from the table or put your napkin over it, or put salt in it, or whatever you have to do to not touch it again.

My doc lets me drink up to the first bite and then not until twenty minutes after the meal. Use whatever tricks you need to. But hydrating right before the first bite helps me a lot.

Yes. Water consumption is an every day challenge for me. I have a large water bottle I fill and try to finish... Mixed results...

It took years to not want to drink with meals. Now just a sip and no more and I do fine. I drink a big glass up till 10 minutes before... Then nothing for about 40 minutes after... It took training and some food rejection before it got drilled into my 60 year old head.

Keep trying... And good luck.

Please keep posting. Lapbanders are a lot more rare on this board!

My doc's rule is no drinking thirty minutes before and after eating. Seems odd at first, but I got used to it. I am still trying to increase my Water intake. I am a steadfast iced tea drinker, always unsweetened, so I have started to make a 50/50 regular and Decaf tea. Trying to be good.

I know. I have to force the Water too. I was a huge diet soda drinker so that alone was a struggle. Crystal light iced tea helps me it's just so weird not filling a drink at meals lol

Being almost 6 months post op I still struggle with not drinking while eating. I have managed to limit it to a few sips but it's still difficult. We are having to break habits of a lifetime, It's going to take time but you will get there.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
