sjfink 239 Posted August 8, 2015 I live alone & have plans for a friend to stay with me for the first couple of days after surgery. I also have cats, and I'm wondering about having to bend over to feed them & clean their litter box. At what point is that kind of simple bending ok/not too painful? Just trying to make sure I've got my bases covered as far as help I might need. Surgery is one month from today!!
cat268 26 Posted August 8, 2015 I was surprised to find I could do it fairly easily by day 3. Was told not to lift over 30 lbs.
The Candidate 3,215 Posted August 8, 2015 I had my dogs taken care of outside my home as I was worried about the same thing. However, by the 2nd day after being released from the hospital I asked for them back, as I was feeling so good. Haven't had any issues. Also been doing housework and laundry, which requires multiple bending, and again, no problem. Good luck!
AngelaWilliamsMD 290 Posted August 8, 2015 I actually flew on a plane on post-op day 2. Most people do fine by then.
cjnorris 103 Posted August 8, 2015 I was fine with those tasks...could not lift over 20lbs so depending on the cat liter just be careful. The soreness goes away pretty fast. But it will be nice to have someone with you fir company and support. Best of Luck
Buh Bye 63 Posted August 9, 2015 I was wondering the very same thing! I have 2 cats.. spoiled rotten. I'm having the Lapband removed & revised to RNY on tues 8/11. Thanks for asking that question & to those who replied. Good luck to you!
Fluffypal 13 Posted August 10, 2015 Good luck to y'all. Taking care of your animals shouldn't be a problem and you will smell different to them after surgery so usually there's no problem with them climbing on you or sitting on your abdomen.
